Tampa Bay Buccaneers QBs Baker Mayfield and Kyle Trask are both listed as QB1 on the team's first depth chart.
Head coach Todd Bowles said each QB will start a preseason game. "Whoever starts this game, the other one will start the next game and get the same amount of reps."

We all know the story by now of how Aaron Rodgers took a massive pay cut to play with the New York Jets. But, apparently, he reiterated (once again) that he plans to be there for longer than just 2023.
As someone who has thought that Rodgers would retire after the past two seasons, I'd be shocked if he played beyond 2023. It's better to bow out too soon than too late.

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was asked about the status of the quarterback position, and he's not giving much away right now. While he hinted that Gardner Minshew could be ready to play in September, he also stated that part of the process of getting rookie Anthony Richardson ready to play would be... actually playing.
Both Minshew and Richardson will get to show off in training camp later this month, and I'd expect to see a ton of Richardson during preseason to get him acclimated to in-game situations. But it's still up in the air whether he will do enough to earn the starting job in Week One. We'll definitely be keeping an eye on this one.

During Las Vegas Raiders OTAs, new quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo did not participate in practice, as he has not been cleared.
Garoppolo had surgery on his foot in March and is expected to miss Raiders OTAs. Garoppolo's rehabilitation timeline is uncertain, but the feeling in the building is that he should be ready by the beginning of the season at the latest. Head coach Josh McDaniels refused to comment on Garoppolo's surgery on Thursday, the severity, and the timeline of recovery.
By focusing on his recovery, Garoppolo aims to strengthen his foot and regain full mobility - however less time with new teammates and being on a new team in general is likely not going to be beneficial for him. More qb news:
The Pittsburgh Steelers signed backup QB Mitch Trubisky to a two-year contract extension. General Manager Omar Khan announced a deal was close on the Pat McAfee Show, and a confirmed deal was announced shortly thereafter.
Trubisky started for the Steelers for a short time before the team handed the keys to Kenny Pickett, who will be the expected starter in 2023. Trubisky is a solid backup who can win you a game or two if needed, but probably isn't consistent enough to be a starter in the NFL.
Pittsburgh also re-signed third-stringer Mason Rudolph earlier this week, giving Pickett a strong sense of continuity in the quarterback room for September. more qb news:
Current free agent QB Matt Ryan hasn't announced his retirement yet, but based on his latest career venture (and to be honest, last year's performance), it seems like it may be a reality soon. Ryan announced he will be joining CBS Sports as an analyst, both in studio and in-game. Ryan says in a Twitter post that he is not retiring - because he's still owed money from the Indianapolis Colts.
If Ryan does decide to retire, he will do so with zero Super Bowls.

The Houston Texans picked Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud with the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft; we know this. What is puzzling is that the team fleeced everyone into thinking they weren't taking a quarterback - so much so that several mock drafts as early as two weeks before had the team going defense at No. 2. Texans owner Cal McNair insisted that he had no influence on the pick of Stroud. "Hannah and I don't make the picks," McNair said at the team's charity golf event.
"We have a great group of scouts led by Nick [Caserio] and James Lippert," McNair continued, "and they did a lot of work on the draft board, and then they followed that on draft day, and they moved up when they saw the value was there and moved back."
Houston, famously, picked Stroud at No. 2 and then traded up to take Alabama defensive end Will Anderson Jr. The Texans are certainly doing everything they can to improve their roster, which has been one of the weakest in the NFL for the past few seasons. I, personally, love the presence of new head coach DeMeco Ryans and think he can make a huge impact on trying to change the course of the franchise. It probably won't be this year, or even next, but they definitely have the ability to slowly get better with time. more Qb news:
The Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl in 2018. Now, two out of three of the quarterbacks on that roster are free agents. Carson Wentz has been looking for a new home since his release from the Washington Commanders, and Nick Foles was released by the Indianapolis Colts on Friday.
Both Wentz and Foles could find new teams as backups closer to camp, as teams like to have a good veteran presence heading into the summer.
Or, do they walk away? Foles said recently he is unsure about his future in the NFL after his release from Indy. "Shoot, almost every year of my career I've almost retired. Every offseason, I think, 'Do I still want to play? Do I still want to keep going?' Specifically this last year with everything." more qb news:
One of the reasons Odell Beckham Jr. ended up with the Baltimore Ravens was the quarterback who isn't really the quarterback. Do you follow? Lamar Jackson was the ringleader when it came to getting Beckham on the roster, despite not being currently under contract.
Jackson is still searching for a new contract (he recently tweeted that he requested a trade and followed up with the opinion that the Ravens did not value him), so I find it hard to believe that this one move (for one year, nonetheless) will make him swallow his pride and sign either the tag or for less money than he asked for. I talk more about this in Monday's Patreon episode. more Qb news:
The Indianapolis Colts worked out top QB prospects CJ Stroud and Bryce Young on Monday. The Colts pick at No. 4 in this year's NFL Draft and are in desperate need of a quarterback after starting the corpse of Matt Ryan in 2022. Indianapolis will also work out prospect Will Levis on Thursday in Lexington, Kentucky.
The Colts have been linked to QB Lamar Jackson as well, which could be an interesting option should the QB they prefer go before they are on the clock. The team also signed QB Gardner Minshew this offseason. Both Stroud and Young will have various visits in the next coming days as they meet with teams. Stroud will visit the Houston Texans on Wednesday. more Qb news:
