This weekend, USC quarterback Caleb Wiliams won college football's biggest prize, the Heisman Trophy. While he can't enter the NFL Draft until 2024, this is great to have on your resume. And he won it in a landslide.

QB INJURY UPDATES:

The Atlanta Falcons are on a bye this week but come Week 15; they'll have a new quarterback. The team is benching starter Marcus Mariota in favor of rookie QB Desmond Ridder, a move that came too late, in my opinion.
Ridder was selected in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft after being a standout at Cincinnati. Ridder has not taken any regular season snaps yet, but he'll have extra time to prepare.
More importantly, Ridder's performance over the last quarter of the NFL season should give the team some clarity on if he is their QB of the Future. More QB news:
Mystery has surrounded Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen after he suffered an elbow injury in Sunday's game. While rumors swirled that he had a UCL injury that may end his season (and, therefore, potentially the Bills' season), the team got good news on Wednesday that Allen is considered day-to-day and will be questionable for Week 10's game.
Head coach Sean McDermott said Allen will not practice today (Wednesday), and while it doesn't seem promising for this week, at least his season isn't over. Day-to-day is definitely better than week-to-week.
more qb news:
Tennessee Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill will be a game-time decision for Sunday's game. Tannehill missed last week's game with an ankle injury. He traveled to Kansas City with the team.
Rookie QB Malik Willis would be in line to start if Tannehill cannot go. Willis started last week's game.
other Qb News:
The first touchdown of the night went to quarterback Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears. Fields ran for a three-yard touchdown after going 3-for-3 and 39 yards on their second drive.
New England Patriots starting quarterback Mac Jones was promptly benched after throwing an interception in the second quarter, and was replaced by Bailey Zappe who, you guessed it, immediately threw a touchdown pass. Zappe took the Pats' offense right down the field, going 3-for-3 for 54 yards and capped off by a touchdown to Jakobi Meyers.
Zappe continued to throw absolute dimes, with this one in the second quarter - a 43-yarder to DaVante Parker, to set up the touchdown to give the Patriots the 10-0 lead.
The Bears (surprisingly?) ended up winning this one, forcing four turnovers and giving Bill Belichick the business. One of the more impressive turnovers was this grab by Jaquan Brisker.

Thanks for reading! There was another school shooting on Monday at a high school in St. Louis. PLEASE VOTE. xo, L The first highlight of the night came on fourth down as Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams caught a 58-yard touchdown from quarterback Derek Carr. The Raiders at least realize that you have to be aggressive when going against the Kansas City Chiefs. And yet, if they didn't convert, we wouldn't hear the end of it.
The Chiefs got on the scoreboard with their first touchdown with a classic Mahomes to Travis Kelce touchdown in the second quarter.
It's never good when the most exciting thing during a game is a controversial roughing the passer call. After what happened to Tom Brady on Sunday, this call was somehow worse. Chris Jones was called for roughing Carr, who didn't even possess the ball. I'm not going to rant about this because it will take me all night, but the NFL has to do something about this. It's been two days in a row that the game has been affected by this.
Despite a shaky start, the Chiefs came away with the win. Travis Kelce ended the night with a career-high four touchdowns.

It finally happened. The Carolina Panthers traded for quarterback Baker Mayfield for a Cleveland Browns conditional fifth-round pick.
The Panthers only pay $5 million of Mayfield's 2022 salary, while the Browns will pay more than twice that to get him out of town ($10.5 million). As a result, Cleveland will go into September with Jacoby Brissett as their starting quarterback, assuming Deshaun Watson will be suspended at the start of the season. And to make things more interesting? The Browns and Panthers play each other in Week One. more:
Former Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas unexpectedly passed away at age 33 last December. Doctors at Boston University have now determined that the star WR had stage two CTE at his time of death.
Thomas was known to suffer from seizures in the last years of his life, one of which caused a 2019 car accident. One of the more disturbing quotes stated in the doctors' report was regarding these seizures. "His behavior became increasingly erratic in the last year of his life, which was marked by the memory loss, paranoia, and isolation that are hallmarks of chronic traumatic encephalopathy, the degenerative brain disease linked to repeated head hits."
While an official cause of death has not yet been determined, it has been stated that Thomas suffered a seizure while in the shower. Thomas spent eight seasons with the Broncos, where he won a Super Bowl and had four Pro Bowl seasons. more:

According to several reports, Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf was not present at the team's mandatory minicamp this week. Metcalf is currently in the Los Angeles area rehabbing from offseason foot surgery, but his absence is unexcused, costing him more than $90,000 in fines.
Metcalf is in the last season of his current rookie deal, with only a $4.3 million cap hit. Translation: WAY less than what he's worth, and he knows it. The Seahawks have reiterated that getting a new deal done with Metcalf is a priority, but talks between sides are currently at a standstill. Additionally, with the recent departures of both Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner (two of the faces of the franchise), it makes you wonder if Seattle wants to go into Full Rebuild Mode and deal Metcalf for draft picks. While both sides seem confident they will reach a deal before the 2022 season begins, this is something to monitor closely.
