Buzz - Ravens signing willie Snead to an offer sheet means Dez Bryant told them no

So, the Baltimore Ravens are desperate when it comes to the wide receiver position. They have the ghost of Breshad Perriman and I seriously thought they were going to re-sign Michael Campanaro for a second. Baltimore signed Michael Crabtree this offseason, which is their biggest free agency pick-up this offseason. And since we can't have nice things, Jeremy Maclin was the Ravens' biggest free agency pick-up last season, so that should tell you all you need to know.

Moving on to Dez Bryant and Willie Snead. Dez was cut by the Cowboys last week, and the Ravens immediately had interest, as they should. Dez, however, did not have interest in playing in Baltimore. His reason? He didn't want to play in Joe Flacco's system.

This weekend, the Ravens signed New Orleans Saints WR and restricted free agent Willie Snead to an offer sheet worth almost $10.5 million. My assumption is Dez and his camp finally told Baltimore no, bringing in their second choice, Snead. Knowing New Orleans just signed former Chicago Bears WR Cameron Meredith, the chances of the Saints matching Snead's offer sheet are slim.

So there's that. I didn't want to tell y'all that because someone not wanting to play with Joe Flacco is bad for my brand.

buzz-worthy-

  • Josh Allen, top QB prospect and bad haircut haver, had a total of seven workouts with teams, and a private workout with the New York Jets. First of all, I am so here for the transition from living in WYOMING (what is even there?) to New York. Second, I think Baker fits the best in New York but that's just me.
  • New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has made it clear he isn't showing up for team workouts. "I've got dirt biking skills to work on," he said this weekend.
  • Amnesty International awarded Colin Kaepernick with the Ambassador of Conscience Award this weekend, leading to several takes on the Internet. Friend and former teammate Eric Reid presented him with the award and Kaepernick had this to say about it - “Eric introducing me for this prestigious award brings me great joy,” Kaepernick said. “But I am also pained by the fact that his taking a knee, and demonstrating courage to protect the rights of black and brown people in America, has also led to his ostracization from the NFL when he is widely recognized as one of the best competitors in the game and in the prime of his career.”
  • The Indianapolis Colts are weirdly speaking high praise about QB Jacoby Brissett. “Jacoby Brissett is going to play in this league a long time. If I learned anything last year, it was the value of a backup quarterback who can get it done, and I think Jacoby can do that," GM Chris Ballard said during his presser. With a broken Andrew Luck, they may be depending on this guy an awful lot this season...
  • Denver Broncos GM John Elway says he's open to trading the fifth overall pick for this week's draft.
  • Greg Hardy's dumbass is somehow getting a chance to fight in a UFC fight. What are they going to have him fight a woman? How does this happen? The best part is that this MMA site has the headline as "Controversial NFL player" - Yeah, no shit he beat the hell out of his gf and threw her on a bed of guns. When are we going to stop giving these people more chances to succeed?
  • The Philadelphia Eagles reached an agreement with QB Nick Foles this weekend. He obviously won Super Bowl MVP this past season, and the Eagles might need him if starter Carson Wentz can't start the season. There's a 'mutual option' for 2019, meaning Foles could either stay or go next season.
  • Washington Redskins CB Bashaud Breeland won't be back with the team next season. He signed a deal early in free agency with the Carolina Panthers, before they backed out due to an injury he had. The Redskins have also said "Nah we don't want you back."
  • The victim in San Fransisco 49ers LB Reuben Foster, and horrible person's, domestic violence case, appears to be backing down and/or planning to refuse to cooperate with authorities. This goes into more detail, but basically if the victim doesn't cooperate fully, it is harder for lawyers to prove guilt. Meaning it's harder to convict him. And on the NFL side, that means it's harder for the team or the NFL to suspend him. But it's not hard for me to think he's a horrible person.
  • Aaron Rodgers buys a stake in the Milwaukee Bucks, as he announced on Friday night (but not before having a complete BLOW UP fight with girlfriend Danica Patrick and then sitting courtside while visibly upset - eyeball emoji). Now Rodgers owns two teams - the Chicago Bears and the Milwaukee Bucks.

Last word-

My lady has brought me to an urban outfitters style brunch place here in town... no clue how these humans survive day to day.
