Drew Brees breaks the all-time passing record

Talking trash about NFL QBs is one of my favorite pastimes but Drew Brees is one of the mere few that I enjoy. Brees broke the NFL's all-time passing yardage record on Monday night. The record was held by Peyton Manning who retired with 71,940 yards. Brees is set to break 500 TDs against the Ravens, because OF COURSE he is.

Monday night's New Orleans Saints/Washington R*****s game was paused for a short ceremony which included the presentation of the football used to break said record, and some things he said to his kids that I can't repeat because I already cried once during it.

I'd almost bet money (I don't do that anymore since I retired from fantasy football as of Monday) Brees retires after this season, but we shall revisit. He had that look in his eye.

Here's how it happened (fitting):

And here's what Manning had to say about it:

buzz-worthy:

  • I hate Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin with the heat of one thousand suns, but there's talk that he could be fined for what he said after Sunday's game regarding the roughing the passer call. For reference, he said, "We’ve gotta get better as a National Football League. Man, these penalties are costing people games and jobs. We’ve gotta get ’em correct. And so I’m pissed about it, to be quite honest with you." Raise your hand if you're shocked that the NFL would fine Tomlin for being right.
  • Arizona Cardinals rookie QB Josh Rosen won his first NFL game on Sunday, but his stats were not great! Rosen pointed to the scoreboard, saying "all I care about is a win." Yas qween
  • The Philadelphia Eagles put RB Jay Ajayi on injured reserve on Monday after tearing his ACL. It appears he played through it during Sunday's game. Paging Le'Veon Bell?
  • Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan had x-rays after Sunday's game after being taken out for Matt Schaub (hehehahAHHAHAhahaheheheahah) but unfortunately for the Falcons he is ready to go for Week Six. The "Excuse Wheel" has spun.
  • The Oakland Raiders may be in trouble (not actual trouble, just fake trouble like the NFL likes to do). G Kelechi Osemele was listed as questionable for Sunday's game and did not travel with the team, although they never downgraded him to "Out." Whoopdedoo. This is the type of thing the NFL will care about over their trash "rules," so I'm fully expecting something to come of it.
  • The Baltimore Ravens claimed CB Cyrus Jones after he was waived by the New England Patriots this weekend. He's been back and forth between both teams since the preseason.
  • New York Jets DE Leonard Williams has been talking a lot of shit about everyone lately and I happen to love it. His latest conquest is Denver Broncos QB Case Keenum. Williams said, "He seemed really uncomfortable. There were times when we wouldn’t even get to him and he would just get scared and throw the ball away." Well, yeah see, it's Case Keenum so.
  • Washington R******s RB Adrian Peterson is just happy to be here, but not that happy that he didn't get to finish his career with the Minnesota Vikings. “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed. After spending 10 years with a team, you would think you would get some type of offer."
  • New England Patriots QB Tom Brady had the most fire quote of the week and we're not taking any more suggestions. When we play a team like Kansas City, we have to take advantage of every scoring opportunity because we know they are.” Wow. Nothing gets by Tom.
  • Never mind. "I don't watch Lil Wayne that much." - Eli Manning
