I am not a basketball fan. On Sunday, I was even talking with two of my girlfriends at brunch about how neither of us knew how many quarters were in basketball, and we ended up Googling it. But that's the thing. You don't have to be a basketball fan to feel at a loss right now. You don't even have to be a sports fan. You just have to be a human being.
If you haven't heard, former Los Angeles Laker Kobe Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash on Sunday morning in Calabasas, California. Also among the victims was his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, a rising basketball star. I'm not going to make this into a "which death is more sad" thing -- both are equally sad, equally devastating, and equally shocking. I'm not here to analyze his career, look back on his accomplishments, etc. -- plenty of others will do that in the coming days, weeks, months. Plenty of people will go on to play basketball just like him because he's the reason they started playing in the first place. I'm here to tell you to look at the relationships with people around you -- good or bad -- and appreciate them, because you never know when they won't be there anymore.
chiefs players head to miami a la andy reid.
The Kansas City Chiefs headed to Miami on Sunday for next weekend's Super Bowl. They didn't dress up though -- they dressed down, in floral Hawaiian attire, just like head coach Andy Reid.
Chiefs by one hundred.
