I've Found it-the dumbest potential NFL rule of all time

NFL owners are talking about giving teams 15-yard penalties for kneeling during the anthem. In real life. In 2018.

While I doubt this will actually happen (they don't want the backlash because of how breathtakingly dumb this is), the fact that they are even discussing and reporting this as potentially happening makes me so mad I could body slam Jerry Jones through a coffee table.

A few owners are adamant on standing for the anthem, including (you guessed it) Jerry Jones. “Everyone knows my position on that. And so we’ll give the kind of sensitivity and thought and discussion that it deserves, and we’ll come up with a league-wide, going forward, position. But I reiterate that everybody knows where I stand on it," he said a few weeks ago. And we all know what a good-mannered all-American guy Jones is.

I'd keep going but I'm getting increasingly angered.

buzz-worthy-

  • The Philadelphia Eagles turned down a trade with the Cleveland Browns for QB Nick Foles, saving him from career suicide. The Browns offered their 35th pick for Foles, who still may be needed in Philly if starter Carson Wentz isn't available at the start of the season.
  • In other Eagles news, linebacker Paul Worrilow already tore his ACL during OTAs on Tuesday and is out for the season. I personally put money on the Ravens having the first season-ending injury.
  • In yet more Eagles news, the team released linebacker Mychal Kendricks, making it an awful day for Philadelphia linebackers. This was a $ move, as he was to count almost $8 million against Philly's cap this season.
  • Marcus Peters had some strong words to say re: Los Angeles Rams teammate Aaron Donald earlier this week. "Hey man, pay the man. I mean shit. You win the MVP? Come on now."
  • Los Angeles Chargers tight end Hunter Henry also tore his ACL on Tuesday during OTAs and will be out for the season. The injury was no-contact, probably the worst way to go. Antonio Gates gotta be on speed dial.
  • Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is officially back at OTAs and is "going to do everything." Ummm great?
  • Brett Favre revealed to Peter King that he went to rehab three times for alcohol and painkillers. "I was the MVP on a pain-pill buzz." Imagine if they just let the players smoke weed.
  • New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was of course asked to talk about his absent QB Tom Brady Tuesday at OTAs, and of course he declined. "I’m not going to talk about the people who aren’t here. The guys who are here are improving, working hard. That’s who we’re going to focus on."
  • After acquiring first-rounder Sam Darnold in this year's NFL Draft, the New York Jets traded one of their other seventeen QBs Christian Hackenberg to the Oakland Raiders on Tuesday.
  • Pittsburgh Steelers QB (arguably) Ben Roethlisberger says he'll mentor Mason Rudolph at OTAs, which I assume means show him how to throw Cheetos into the air and catch them in his mouth, how to block people on Twitter, and how to lose to Blake Bortles twice at home.

What I'm reading today-

  • Kenneth Dixon returns to the field, where he could make a big  impact (Ravens.com)
  • Aaron Rodgers: Why cut Jordy Nelson and sign Dez Bryant? (ESPN)
  • Malik Jackson: 'If you think the front office isn't trying to get rid of you, then you're crazy' (Jacksonville.com)
  • 'The Staircase' trailer: Netflix relaunches true-crime documentary series with new episodes (Indie Wire)

Last word-

So much sports going on, and all I want is an NFL game. I’ll even take a Thursday night Browns-Bills tilt. When was the last meaningful football game? pic.twitter.com/58ZtxFgXBx
