Yes, you read that right. The Kansas City Chiefs and star quarterback Patrick Mahomes reached a ten-year, $450 million deal on Monday, making that a great start to the week for him. This is the richest contract in sports history, which was previously held by baseball player Mike Trout. With incentives, this comes out to just over a half a billion dollars. Complete jaw-dropper.
Is there anyone in the world who thinks he doesn't deserve this? The NFL's best player is in a tier of his own, and with a Super Bowl under his belt, Mahomes has proven he can win in the long run. I don't think this will be the "setting point" for future quarterback contracts, as most tend to think, because, like I said, Mahomes is in a world of his own. Right now, no one comes close. Former athlete and activist Colin Kaepernick announced a partnership with Disney on Monday, to develop content for black voices, content, and producers. The deal includes a docuseries on the past few years of his life, moving on from professional sports, and spotlighting his work with social justice.
This will clearly be a must-watch. Kaepernick keeps going the extra mile, amid several haters and people who just don't understand the complexity of what he's currently accomplishing. At this point, they don't want to see it. Not only is this admirable, but the fact that he keeps going should be a message to everyone. Especially now.
