Patriots coaches impressed with Cam Newton thus far

Brand new New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton didn't have a lot of time this offseason to perfect the scheme on his new team, but coaches are impressed with how well he's been able to do so.

Jedd Fisch on Cam Newton (via @TheGregHillShow): "The best reflection of his work ethic - we're not even at 4 weeks yet where he's come into the building - is that he's able to function and run the offense. That's reflective of how hard he's worked to get there."

Whether or not you believe the Jarrett Stidham hip injury story or not, the truth is that there was never a real competition at the position for the Patriots - it was Newton's job all along. The fact that he's taking advantage of it, and seems to be excelling at the job thus far, is just a bonus.
