RIP AJ Green

Rest in peace AJ Green. The Cincinnati Bengals receiver will have season-ending surgery on his toe, ending his season. After missing three games, Green returned on Sunday, but didn't make it through the game. The surgery will repair torn ligaments in his toe, which to me sounds like stubbing your toe into the side of a dresser over and over again.

Green should be back in time for OTAs, with his rehab process taking anywhere from three to four months.

The Bengals offense is dropping like flies, which at least gives us a different ending to the their season that we're used to - going one and done in the playoffs.

extra points:

  • Baltimore Ravens QB Joe Flacco is going to be given a heavier load this week in practice. What happens from there will determine if he'll be cleared by doctors to play, coach John Harbaugh explained. "He’s cleared to practice, so he’ll practice. They’ll probably look at what he does in practice. They look at tape. And they’ll just let me know, they’ll let us know. We expect to ramp him up in practice a lot more this week since last week was his first week and we’ll just see how it goes."
  • I almost had a heart attack today when I heard Netflix was taking Friends out of its lineup in 2019. Thankfully, they said it will remain through 2019. Was worried how I was going to fall asleep every night.
  • The Carolina Panthers aren't doing so hot, but their veterans are rallying around their head coach Ron Rivera. C Ryan Kalil said, "There’s nothing you can do about that, from a coaching standpoint. I’m very, very happy with how Ron goes about (his job) week to week, and that’s what makes this tough.”
  • Aside from the Pittsburgh Steelers' embarrassing and hilarious loss on Sunday night, RB James Conner came away from the game with a lower leg contusion. No word yet on how much time he'll miss, but they basically have a bye next week playing the Oakland Raiders.
  • Houston Texans DE JJ Watt had some nice words to say about Cleveland Browns rookie QB Baker Mayfield, despite the Browns' loss on Sunday. "He bounced back. As a rookie quarterback, it probably would’ve been easy to kind of go into a hole there, but he fought through it and worked his way through it.’’
  • Eli Manning remains the New York Giants' starting QB, but for how long? The team still intends to play backup QB Kyle Lauletta at some point this season, but not until the team is out of playoff contention. Give it about a week or so.
  • Denver Broncos RB Phillip Lindsay is closing in on an impressive record. With 937 yards in twelve games, Lindsay is on pace to break the all-time rushing record for undrafted rookies.
  • I wasn't sure this was going to happen, because I was almost positive someone was going to be an idiot and fuck this up for everyone but Kareem Hunt cleared waivers as of 4pm on Monday. Slow clap.
  • The Green Bay Packers are looking for a new head coach, but QB Aaron Rodgers won't be involved in that search. CEO Mark Murphy said on Monday that, "Aaron is free to provide input but he won’t be part of the process.”
  • Washington Redskins QB Colt McCoy AND new backup Mark Sanchez both played on Monday Night Football, and it felt like 2012 again. McCoy ended up breaking his leg and I feel bad for him but not for the Redskins because karma. RB Adrian Peterson broke away with a  90-yard touchdown run, but the Philadelphia Eagles ended up winning in the 25th prime-time game featuring the NFC East this season.
