Miami Dolphins (backup) QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is absent from practice on Friday, due to personal reasons. No one really knows what is going on as of right now, so there isn't really a timetable on when he will be back to practice.
First of all, I'm not going to sit here and speculate about what's going on with him. I hope he and the fam are well, and everything is good.
Second, the fact that Miami is thinking about bringing another quarterback in, means that it's most likely a longer-term-type thing, and he won't be just missing a day or two.
Third, this comes just a day after the Dolphins were said to be rolling with Fitzpatrick to start the season. With him out for any amount of time, gives the other two quarterbacks on the roster -- first pick Tua Tagovailoa and Josh Rosen (ever heard of him) -- a chance to compete alongside the first-team offense.
Eyeball emojis all around on my part, as this very well may be the shot Rosen needs, and I can sip my tea for all eternity.
