marshal yanda retires -- we knew this was coming.
After saying he was contemplating this last season, Baltimore Ravens guard Marshal Yanda will announce his retirement today (Wednesday) after 13 seasons in the NFL. Enjoy this video from the Ravens' digital media team -- they always kill it:
The thing about Yanda is this: he has been one of the most consistent solid players in the NFL for the past decade, and yet, you don't hear nearly enough people outside of the Baltimore media market talking about it. I guess this can be true for all offensive linemen -- they rarely ever get the recognition they deserve until they get to the Hall of Fame and get their speech. Maybe I'm biased, but Yanda did so much for the team and they will be left with a definite hole at all aspects from play all the way up to leadership. I wouldn't worry about the effect this will have on the Ravens and their drafting this season. They (should) have prepared for this pretty much since last season; they've known this was coming for a while. I bet Yanda is putting down a crazy amount of beers tonight. He deserves it. finally, a president who knows what he's doing
It's been a while since we've had one of those. Cleveland Browns center JC Tretter was named the National Football League Players Association president on Tuesday.
One report stated that Tretter voted in favor of the new CBA, which kind of makes me think that it will be approved. But you can judge for yourself based on what he had to say about it.
