It finally happened. The Carolina Panthers traded for quarterback Baker Mayfield for a Cleveland Browns conditional fifth-round pick.

A new QB in Carolina: The #Panthers are acquiring former No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield from the #Browns for a 2024 conditional 5th-round draft pick, sources tell me and @TomPelissero. Deal is pending a physical. All parties split the financials to make it happen. pic.twitter.com/xuTLqosmZm

The Panthers only pay $5 million of Mayfield's 2022 salary, while the Browns will pay more than twice that to get him out of town ($10.5 million). As a result, Cleveland will go into September with Jacoby Brissett as their starting quarterback, assuming Deshaun Watson will be suspended at the start of the season.

And to make things more interesting? The Browns and Panthers play each other in Week One.

  • After commenting "Nooooo" on an Instagram post stating that the Panthers were interested in Mayfield, his now-teammate Robbie Anderson insists that he has no issue with his new quarterback.

I don’t have an issue with Baker stop tryna paint that narrative. pic.twitter.com/52GhVHget4

  • So what about the Seattle Seahawks? Apparently the plan has been to "roll with" a competition between Geno Smith and Drew Lock all this time. I'm still not buying it.

Baker Mayfield traded to Panthers. Was he worth even $5M for 2022 for the Seahawks?

No. Their plan since trading Russell Wilson: roll with Drew Lock vs Geno Smith in final years of their contracts, stock up for QB-packed 2023 draft.

May be a bumpy ride https://t.co/CjVb9zAwGQ

  • As New Orleans Saints QB Jameis Winston has been rehabbing this offseason from a torn ACL, a video of him throwing without a knee brace made its way around Instagram. I'm still not convinced the Saints are set on the QB position, but this is a good sign.

  • The city of Chicago proposed putting a dome on the roof of Soldier Field, home of the Chicago Bears. Apparently they think it will make the stadium more attractive? You be the judge.

How would Soldier Field look with a dome?

We made some mockups pic.twitter.com/NG9lbmSlkW
