If Aaron Rodgers is going to play for the New York Jets, he wants to do it his own way, and with some of his friends. Rodgers has given the Jets a 'Wish List' of players he wants the team to target and/or sign, because of course he has. The list includes former teammates Allen Lazard, Marcedes Lewis, best friend Randall Cobb, and Odell Beckham Jr.

Aaron Rodgers has provided the NY Jets with a wish-list of free agents he would like them to target and acquire, per sources.
It includes Randall Cobb, Allen Lazard, Marcedes Lewis and….Odell Beckham Jr.

One of them is already checked off the list - Lazard signed a four-year, $44 million contract with New York on Tuesday. The rest? Unsure, although the Jets did attend an open workout that OBJ held in Arizona late last week.

The Jets also have Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore, Corey Davis, and Denzel Mims in their wide receiver room. Not bad. So why does Rodgers want all these older guys in the room, unless he's on a complete power trip? He's already holding two teams hostage during the peak of free agency - the Jets and the team that is hoping to trade him, the Green Bay Packers. Neither can do much until there's a resolution.

Hopefully one is coming soon, as Rodgers is scheduled to appear on his friend, Pat McAfee's show on Wednesday at 1pm.

more QB news:

  • The New Orleans Saints re-signed QB Jameis Winston, presumably to back up new signing Derek Carr. The deal is worth "up to" $8 million, which he likely won't see unless Carr gets injured.
  • The Buffalo Bills restructured QB Josh Allen's contract, along with LB Von Miller's, creating up to $32 million in cap space.
  • The Atlanta Falcons will sign QB Taylor Heinicke to a two-year contract, worth up to $20 million. I predict he'll compete with second-year QB Desmond Ridder for the starting job, as his contract contains high-end backup money, laden with incentives for starts.
  • The Minnesota Vikings restructured QB Kirk Cousins' contract, creating $16 milion in cap space.
    • The Minnesota Vikings willre-sign backup QB Nick Mullens, who was on their roster last season.
  • The Indianapolis Colts plan to release QB Matt Ryan by Friday. Ryan was benched twice this past season, and will save $17.2 million against the Colts' cap. Ryan has also won zero Super Bowls.
  • The Carolina Panthers, while owning the No. 1 pick, are signing QB Andy Dalton to be the veteran backup to whomever they choose. Dalton's deal includes $8 million guaranteed and another $7 million in incentives, presumably for playing time.
