The Minnesota Vikings are signing linebacker Todd Davis to a one-year deal, after visiting earlier in the week. Davis was formerly with the Denver Broncos.
Minnesota lost LB Anthony Barr for the season with a pectoral injury. Of course, there's also a coaching connection; Davis played with Vikings offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak in Denver.

Former Denver Broncos linebacker Todd Davis is visiting the Minnesota Vikings, and is expected to sign after he completes a physical and COVID-19 testing.
Linebacker is a position the Vikings need immense help with, as they lost Anthony Barr this week after a torn pectoral injury.
The Minnesota Vikings have been trying to keep quiet on the status of star defensive end Danielle Hunter's status, but the guy who may be responsible to play in case of his absence may have just spilled the beans.
This could purely be just speculation on my part (and the many others who are speculating), but the fact that he hasn't practiced in about a month is quite concerning. There were even rumors of a holdout since the team traded for Yannick Ngakoue. There should be an injury report out today which should give us a clue if this is actually an injury, or just a smokescreen.
Many players are getting new contracts lately (today, even), but those who aren't --the one thing at the forefront of their minds is the upcoming season. Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook is in that camp. Cook and Minnesota talked plans of a new deal earlier this offseason, but those talks were put to a stop.
Sometimes, a player will do the almighty 'hold-out,' but Cook chose to keep showing up. So what's next for him? Just playing his best this season and hoping things work themselves out.
Cook maintains that he wants a deal to get done with Minnesota eventually.
The Minnesota Vikings got better over the weekend, adding defensive end Yannick Ngakoue. But, they might be losing someone else. Left tackle Riley Reiff is being asked to take a pay cut, and it doesn't seem like he wants to do that.
Reiff is technically "overpaid," but he's a solid player. Reiff is currently set to make almost $11 million this year. If the Vikings cut him, which it looks like they are going to, the team would gain $8.8 million in space. |
