The New York Jets are clearly excited about having QB Aaron Rodgers on their side, including WR Garrett Wilson. "I'd be lying if I said we add someone of Aaron Rodgers' pedigree and the expectation doesn't go up a little bit."

After what feels like years, the Green Bay Packers finally traded future Hall of Fame QB Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets on Monday. The Packers get in return:
The main holdup for this trade appears to be the compensation - the Packers wanted to make sure they got a sizable haul for Rodgers, while the Jets wanted to make sure they didn't put their organization into the hole should Rodgers only choose to play one season in New York. It seems like a win for both sides, as of right now. Rodgers gets a young roster to work with, plus a challenging coaching staff and a change of scenery (and a chance to pull a Tom Brady and win a Super Bowl on another team). More Qb news:
The San Francisco 49ers have been taking calls from teams asking about QB Trey Lance. While that's as far as the process goes, teams calling about his availability before the draft is significant. Brock Purdy is likely to be the starter whenever he is fully recovered from his elbow injury that he sustained in the NFC Championship Game. The Niners also have QB Sam Darnold on the roster. Two intriguing landing spots for Lance could be the Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans, as he's familiar with Titans GM Ran Carthon and Titans head coach DeMeco Ryans.
A report states the Minnesota Vikings were one of the teams to speak to Lance at this year's scouting combine. There were also rumors swirling around that time about a potential Kirk Cousins trade, so this may be something to keep an eye on.

The Carolina Panthers are wrapping up their private visits with the top 2023 quarterback prospects. Ohio State's CJ Stroud and Kentucky's Will Levis will visit with the team next week.
The Panthers have also met with Florida's Anthony Richardson and Bryce Young from Alabama and have attended all of the top prospects' Pro Days. Carolina will have their choie of quarterbacks with the first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft in two weeks. Young is currently the favorite, but we all know it's #lyingseason. more qb news:
The New York Jets are supposed to sign Aaron Rodgers eventually, but we're still waiting. As things stand right now, Rodgers has said he intends to be shipped off to New Jersey, but... we're still waiting. As things stand right now, Rodgers worked out with former and future teammate Allen Lazard recently, who was on Rodgers' rumored 'list' of players he wanted the Jets to sign before he came aboard.
Further, Jets GM Joe Douglas said on Friday night, "he's gonna be here," in response to a question regarding Rodgers' status.
So, in other words, we still don't know. more QB news:
The Los Angeles Chargers are looking to sign QB Justin Herbert to a long-term contract extension ASAP. And, according to General Manager Tom Telesco, he's earned it. (He has.)
"I don't have an update on it. There's a lot that will go into it, obviously, with these types of contracts and the amount of numbers that it's going to be. It's just a good problem to have to know you have a franchise quarterback that's now moving into a veteran franchise quarterback. There are a lot of good things that come with that... I know the numbers are going to be big."

The New England Patriots are the latest team to say they're uninterested in trading for Lamar Jackson. Head coach Bill Belichick refused to talk about Jackson at all during interviews at the owners' meetings earlier this week; owner Robert Kraft said Meek Mill (yes, Meek Mill) texted him to say Jackson was interested in joining the team. It appears that won't be happening. On top of the financial aspect that Jackson is looking for, the Patriots will also have to give up strong draft capital in order to sign Jackson, something Kraft spoke about earlier this week. And New England is one of the teams in the league who is currently in the 'we'll take all the draft picks we can get' category as they're in the middle of a semi-rebuild. The Patriots haven't seemed like they've been 100% sold on current starting quarterback Mac Jones, as he experienced a sophomore slump in 2022. But he deserves another chance at the helm without last year's disaster of an offensive coordinator (Matt Patricia). The options are dwindling for Sir Lamar Jackson. more qb news:
Former MVP (see how we can use that whenever we want? and Carolina Panthers/New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton threw more than 30 passes on Tuesday at Auburn's Pro Day. Newton obviously is looking for a return to the NFL, as he hasn't played since 2021. Newton was also showcasing his brother, Caylin Newton, a wide receiver.
More qB news:
The time has arrived. Baker Mayfield officially signed his contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday.
Mayfield signed a one-year, $8.5 million deal, with $4 million guaranteed. The rest I we assume will come in incentives, i.e. playing time. Mayfield will compete with Kyle Trask, and at this point, I think it's Mayfield's job to lose. This is a good opportunity for Mayfield to come in and prove it - he played well during a short stint with the Los Angeles Rams last season. Mayfield wanted a team that would put him in a good situation to win and thought Tampa was a good spot (maybe because of their god awful division). "It was important for me to be in a place that's stable and knows how to win, knows how to do it properly," he said in Monday's press conference. And for the Bucs - they're in a semi-rebuild mode after Brady announced his retirement (again) earlier this offseason. But don't call Mayfield 'Tom Brady' just yet. "Listen, I'm never going to be Tom Brady. There's a reason why he's won so many Super Bowls. He's the greatest of all time - there's no doubt about that. I'm not going to try to be Tom. I'm going to be me." more qb news:
Sam Darnold signed with the San Francisco 49ers this week, and we can't wait until he plays in next year's NFC Championship Game. Darnold will be the insurance policy for presumed starter Trey Lance as Brock Purdy recovers from UCL surgery.
Darnold said he's not concerned at the moment about who starts, but about how they work together. Aaaw. "I think those things that, with a good quarterback room, as long as we stick together, and we understand that we just got to work hard and continue to put the best foot forward for each other, and everything's going to work out. And I think at the end of the day, as long as we're winning games, that's the only thing that matters to me." more Qb news:
