The Chicago Bears have the first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but they already have their QB of the future in Justin Fields. General Manager Ryan Poles said he wouldn't rule out taking a QB with the first pick but would have to be "blown away." This opens up a potential trade for the first pick or taking a much-needed position player.

Justin Fields was one of the most flashy quarterbacks of 2022, nearly breaking Lamar Jackson's record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in a single season. But, like Jackson, Poles stated that Fields needs to grow as a passer.

The Bears would be stupid to move on from Fields and instead need to build around him. Chicago can benefit from picking top offensive linemen and/or weapons to surround Fields with in this year's draft rather than looking to replace him.

When asked, Bears GM Ryan Poles said he plans on QB Justin Fields being the team’s starter next season.

He said that he has to be “absolutely blown away” to take a QB at No. 1.

more Qb news:

  • Stop me if this is too shocking, but the Washington Commanders have a need at the quarterback position. The team signed Carson Wentz this offseason, crossing their fingers that he wouldn't be Carson Wentz, to no avail. Wentz would count $26.1 million against the cap, should they keep him around.

Asked about the franchise's plan at QB, and whether Carson Wentz will be with the team next year, Commanders GM Martin Mayhew said "We're currently working through all that."

  • Injuries have been the story for the 2022 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but heading into their first postseason game this week, Tom Brady says they're the healthiest they've been all year. "I'm hoping we're pretty healthy. I believe we're going to be as healthy as we've been all year, which is kind of exciting to get some guys back that haven't been in there and then see if we can go play our best football."
  • Trevor Lawrence was listed as limited on Tuesday's injury report.
  • The Detroit Lions had a great 2022, and a lot of it has to do with the emergence of quarterback Jared Goff. While many doubted him, and he was on the losing end of a monster trade (Matthew Stafford), he pulled together his best season yet. General Manager Brad Holmes said Goff proved himself this year. "I'll say this; I think it's a lot easier to get worse at quarterback than to get better at quarterback in this league... I do think Jared has proven to everybody that he is a starting quarterback for us."
  • The first 90 days of Deshaun Watson's offseason include him sitting for a deposition in his latest civil lawsuit.
