deebo wants a trade

• Versatile wide receiver Deebo Samuel has informed the San Francisco 49ers that he wants a trade. This has been brewing for quite some time, from deleting all traces of the Niners from his social media to his brother posting a cryptic Facebook status about the situation. Samuel is up for an extension, and talks have stalled to the point where he isn't even willing to discuss it with the team. Samuel is one of those players who will instantly make any roster better, but it is up to the Niners to grant his trade request.

He did not want to discuss specific reasons behind his request, but he has indeed let the 49ers know his desire to leave the organization. More to come.

• Michigan pass rusher Aidan Hutchinson has long been rumored to be the first pick in this year's NFL Draft. Hutchinson is convinced of this based on his interactions with the team picking at number one - none other than the Jacksonville Jaguars. This could be just cold, hard truth, or a potential smokescreen, perhaps to entice a team who may want Hutchinson to trade up. We'll find out in a week.
  

Spoke with a source close to Michigan EDGE Aidan Hutchinson yesterday who told me Hutchinson believes he'll be Jacksonville's pick at No. 1 overall "based on his interactions with them."

• New York Giants' new head coach Brian Daboll spoke to the media on Wednesday, where he confirmed that wide receiver Kadarius Toney was not in attendance at voluntary minicamp. Daboll also stated that Toney had not yet received a playbook. New York hasn't had any virtual sessions, so players' first glimpse at the new playbook would be at these voluntary workouts (I mean, it kinda seems like that's your own fault, yes?). Toney previously skipped these workouts due to not signing his rookie deal. Toney has a high ceiling talent-wise but has to get on the field first. And a playbook seems conducive to doing that.

• When asked if the Philadelphia Eagles could draft a quarterback in this year's draft, general manager Howie Roseman is again trying to convince us that they are sold on current starter Jalen Hurts. However, their move to acquire a first-round pick for 2023's draft from the New Orleans Saints, plus their meetings with just about every top QB prospect in this year's draft, have me thinking otherwise. Translation: This is likely Hurts' last chance to prove himself as Philly's starter.
