  • Derek Carr's free agency tour continues in Indianapolis. Carr met with the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers on Tuesday and the New York Jets on Wednesday.
    • On Carr's visit with the Panthers - Frank Reich said the visit went well, and added that Carr is in "his prime." Which is an, uh, interesting choice of words.
    • With the Saints, General Manager Mickey Loomis said the two sides will stay in touch as they work out both sides of their search. "We had a good visit. He's going through his process and we're going through our process, and we'll see what happens."

QB Derek Carr met with the #Saints and #Panthers yesterday, sources say, with Carolina owner David Tepper joining the meeting in Indy. Today, #Jets brass will meet with the FA QB, including owner Woody Johnson. Carr also met with New Orleans owner Gayle Benson previously.

Pointing out that Derek Carr is 32, Frank Reich says he’s still in his “prime” and mentioned a five-year window if Carr is the choice.

more Qb news:

  • The Kansas City Chiefs keep with the trend and promote from within when it comes to offensive coaching positions. Head coach Andy Reid announced that David Girardi would be the team's new quarterbacks coach. "He's a natural fit there, and that's what he'll be doing."
  • The Indianapolis Colts hired Cam Turner, nephew of Norv Turner, as the team's next quarterbacks coach. Turner most recently was the QB coach for the Arizona Cardinals. Next up for Indy? A QB for him to work with.

The #Colts are hiring Cam Turner as their quarterbacks coach, per source. Turner was in Arizona with Kliff Kingsbury the past four seasons, including two as QB coach/co-pass game coordinator. He worked with Cam Newton in Carolina and Kyler Murray in AZ, and now heads to Indy.

  • Kirk Cousins and the Minnesota Vikings are again in the "contract talks" bracket this offseason. General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah talked about Cousins' status and their willingness to work something out. "Obviously, from their side, they want it as certain as possible, and from our side, we want flexibility. You're always trying to be solutions-oriented and find a way that works for both people."
  • Aaron Rodgers Watch continues. Rodgers gave his first interview after coming out of his dark cave, and as expected, no real information was shared about his decision on his future. However, Rodgers says he'll make his decision soon.

The Aaron Rodgers podcast with Aubrey Marcus is up. Here's what he said at the end when his decision to play or retire comes up.

  • Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams famously came to Sin City because of then-teammate Derek Carr. Now, rumors are swirling that Adams will try to recruit Rodgers to the Raiders heavily. General Manager Dave Ziegler says Adams will be involved in conversations about who he'll be catching passes from in 2023. "He's earned the right to be kept in the loop. Josh McDaniels and I feel that way, by what he's accomplished and who he is as a player, and who he is as a leader on that team. So, he'll be involved in those conversations."
  • On Tuesday, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said that the team would take its time deciding on QB Tua Tagovailoa's fifth-year option. They'll also have to decide on a long-term deal—something to keep in mind - Tagovailoa's recent history with concussions. General Manager Chris Grier spoke about their willingness to extend their starting QB. "I mean, I can't lie and say no, but it's not something that's gonna make us afraid to do something long-term at all. The one thing he's had, he's been banged up, but he always comes back and bounces back and plays hard and performs."
  • While Trey Lance will likely be the San Francisco 49ers' starter come September, the team will probably have to add another arm with Brock Purdy getting elbow surgery soon. General Manager John Lynch confirmed the need to add someone and mentioned that it wouldn't be Tom Brady. Because, of course, someone had to ask that.

49ers GM John Lynch said they will have to consider signing a veteran QB this year with the uncertainty to Brock Purdy and Trey Lance coming off injuries. Lynch was asked about Tom Brady. “I sent him a text when he retired,” Lynch said. “He was a teammate for about…

  • While Detroit Lions GM Brad Holmes didn't rule out drafting a quarterback, Holmes did mention they're committed to current starter Jared Goff. With two picks in the first round, they could easily take a quarterback if they like one and sit him for a season or two.

Lions general manager Brad Holmes answered questions on @GMFB about drafting a quarterback.

“We’ve had these open, transparent conversations. We’re happy with Jared (Goff), he’s our starter, but we need to add some pieces,” Holmes told @PSchrags.

  • Baltimore Ravens GM Eric DeCosta knew he'd be asked a handful of questions about the status of QB Lamar Jackson, and he had his answers locked and loaded. DeCosta said he's optimistic that a deal will get done ahead of the franchise tag deadline, which is nothing that he hasn't been saying for the past what feels like, billion months.
    • Yet another report conveys that Jackson does want a fully guaranteed contract.

#Ravens GM Eric DeCosta says he “continues to be optimistic” regarding a Lamar Jackson contract extension.

  • New Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans didn't confirm the team would be taking a quarterback with the No. 2 pick, but he did say they are looking to add to the QB room through the draft and in free agency.

DeMeco Ryans: “We have one quarterback on the roster. We have to add at that position & we’ll do it thru free agency & the Draft. We have to add 2 guys to our roster.I think the system is built around the quarterback as opposed to trying to fit a quarterback into a certain system”
