exploring and investigating the opportunity

  • The Cleveland Browns released this, well, interesting statement on the signing of Deshaun Watson. The team claims it researched Watson and his situation in depth, while the lawyer representing the 22 women said the team never reached out. I'm not gonna get into why this is shitty, why it happened, etc. All I can say is, I'm not surprised.

  • The Cincinnati Bengals made a massive signing on Sunday night as they further their quest to make sure Joe Burrow isn't drilled into the turf and/or is critically injured every week. Cincy signed former Dallas Cowboys offensive tackle La'el Collins to a three-year deal, and the line is immediately improved after issues have plagued the team since Burrow's arrival. Burrow has been the most sacked quarterback in 2021, but this move increases their chances of returning to the Super Bowl.

Just spoke with La'el Collins who told me the first thing he said to Joe Burrow: "Your new bodyguard is in town, no one's touching you."

  • Former Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Randy Gregory has a new home with Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos. Apparently, Cowboys fans (as they do) were angry about said signing and fired off at Gregory on Twitter (again, as they do) because it appeared that he was close to re-signing with Dallas and chose the Broncos instead. The reason? Gregory said Jerry Jones and the Cowboys' brass "acted in bad faith" during the free agency process. It's unclear what, exactly, this means. But not shocking.

  • The bad news? The Seattle Seahawks no longer have Russell Wilson under center and Drew Lock instead. The good news? They also now have Rashaad Penny.

Sources: The #Seahawks are in agreement on a 1-year deal with one of their own — RB Rashaad Penny. The former first-rounder turned down more money elsewhere to build off his stellar second half of 2021. He gets $5.75M with ability to earn up to $6.5M.
