The Los Angeles Rams kick off the 2022 NFL season on Thursday, but one of its members who won a ring with the team will be absent. Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is a free agent, as he's been nursing a knee injury this offseason. However, reports surfaced on Monday that the Rams have kept Beckham's locker (with the nameplate - very important) intact, perhaps keeping him in mind when he's healthy and ready to return.

Adding fuel to the fire, Beckham tweeted on Tuesday that he would be watching the game very closely, which led to questions of whether his decision to sign was between the Rams and their opponent, the Buffalo Bills.

Whoever wins Thursday !!!!! ? ? ?can’t wait … to all the boys goin into the season! May God bless u wit peace of mind and physical strength to endure the season. God watch over all my brothers this year let them shine and stay healthy !! LUV

One thing to note: The Rams and Buffalo are two teams linked to landing the star WR this off-season. While a resolution might not come until later in the season due to his recovery, Beckham could certainly have to decide between these two teams, which may not be a bad problem to have.

  • Green Bay Packers left tackle David Bakhtiari told reporters on Monday he thinks he will be ready to play in Week One's matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. Bakhtiari has been dealing with what seems like 800 knee injuries - he originally tore his ACL in 2020, briefly played last season for like three seconds (literally), and then had another knee surgery this past offseason. Bakhtiari, one of the NFL's best offensive linemen when healthy, would undoubtedly boost the Packers in 2022, as long as they don't feel they are rushing his return.

David Bakhtiari says he's on track to start opener vs. Vikings.

  • As mentioned in yesterday's post, the Pittsburgh Steelers did, in fact, name Mitch Trubisky their starting quarterback in a press conference Tuesday. The change to the depth chart at the position was also something I alluded to yesterday - rookie Kenny Pickett moved up to the backup QB spot, and Mason Rudolph was demoted down to No. 3.

#Steelers coach Mike Tomlin names Mitch Trubisky the starting QB, saying, “We're really comfortable with what Mitch has shown us.”
As for rookie Kenny Pickett, he said, “I'm really pleased with the growth and development of Kenny. That's why he's listed as QB2.”

  • New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard has plans to play in Week One after being activated from the PUP list in late August. Shepard tore his Achilles last December, which is an impressive recovery timeline. The jury's still out on how lackluster the Giants' offense will be.

Sterling Shepard fully plans on playing in opener vs. Titans. "Ready to go," he told ESPN.

Shepard returned to practice just over 2 weeks ago. He will be back in game action less than 9 months after tearing his Achilles. His personal goal this year is to play 17 games. #Giants
