Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields believes he is one of the greatest running QBs in all of NFL history. He named Michael Vick, Cam Newton, Lamar Jackson, Steve Young, and himself.

There's nothing wrong with this line of thinking. I'd rather my favorite QB think he was the best over being like, "Well, let me list x amount of guys who are better than me."

Fields ran for just under 1150 yards last season - the second-most for a QB in history (Jackson had 1206 in 2019). And you could argue that he may have broken Jackson's record had he played in Week 17. But, I think Fields is putting himself there a little early, but it's also fine for him to be a little cocky. It's my favorite QB trait.

more qb news:

  • Doug Pederson was Jalen Hurts' head coach his rookie season, and he could see Hurts' success from a mile away. "It's really no surprise to me the success that Jalen's having right now and just wish him the best moving forward. But the things that impressed me the most are probably the things you see off the football field. The leadership ability, the work ethic, the way he approaches the game, the way he studies the game, the way he wants to be coached."
  • Houston Texans rookie quarterback CJ Stroud came into the building ready to work, learn, and impress, says veteran left tackle Laremy Tunsil. "Man, you should have seen how he came in the building. He came in the building already a leader. He voices himself in the huddles."
  • Trey Lance's future with the San Francisco 49ers is up in the air at the moment, but that doesn't mean teammates are going to stop rooting for him. "Trey is beloved in our locker room," says fullback Kyle Juszczyk. "Everybody loves Trey. The dude really does work his ass off."
  • The Green Bay Packers will sign USFL MVP Alex McGough after a workout with the team.

  • Who's responsible for the recent turnaround of the Cincinnati Bengals? None other than quarterback Joe Burrow, says Sam Hubbard. "Having a guy like that that you can always play hard for and you always know you're in every game, it inspires the whole team."
  • The Los Angeles Rams and Matthew Stafford may be on the outs after 2023. Colin Cowherd stated on his radio show that, "I was told by a source I trust that they wanted to re-do his contract. He wasn't interested. It limits what they can do and they were frustrated with him." Stafford is on the back-end of his career, so I don't blame him for wanting to get as much as he can out of that deal. But the Rams are looking dumb for doing it in the first place - the dark side of going "all-in for a ring."
