The first touchdown of the night went to quarterback Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears. Fields ran for a three-yard touchdown after going 3-for-3 and 39 yards on their second drive.

New England Patriots starting quarterback Mac Jones was promptly benched after throwing an interception in the second quarter, and was replaced by Bailey Zappe who, you guessed it, immediately threw a touchdown pass. Zappe took the Pats' offense right down the field, going 3-for-3 for 54 yards and capped off by a touchdown to Jakobi Meyers.

Zappe continued to throw absolute dimes, with this one in the second quarter - a 43-yarder to DaVante Parker, to set up the touchdown to give the Patriots the 10-0 lead.

The Bears (surprisingly?) ended up winning this one, forcing four turnovers and giving Bill Belichick the business. One of the more impressive turnovers was this grab by Jaquan Brisker.

NOTES:

  • Bears lost center Lucas Patrick in the first quarter, where he was declared doubtful to return with a foot injury. He was carted to the locker room.
  • Jones got away with a Diqq Kiqq right to the balls of Bears DB Jaquan Brisker. Brisker left the game for a play, and then returned to promptly catch the interception that got Jones benched. Taylor Swift sings about karma, and it exists.
  • Patriots safety Kyle Duggar limped to the locker room in the second half, where he was ruled questionable to return with an ankle injury.
  • Bears defensive lineman Mike Pennel was ejected after a blindside block on Pats David Andrews.

more:

  • It has finally happened. Through years of pain and anguish, quarterback Matt Ryan has been benched for the Indianapolis Colts, meaning Sam Ehlinger will start for the remainder of the season.
  • New York Jets rookie running back Breece Hall was confirmed on Monday to have torn his ACL in Week 7. Right tackle Alijah Vera-Tucker will also miss the remainder of the season with a triceps injury.
    • To replace Hall, the Jets are acquiring RB James Robinson from the Jacksonville Jaguars for a conditional sixth-round pick in return. Robinson gives them some much-needed help at the position.
  • Speaking of injuries teams being decimated by injuries, the Los Angeles Chargers are also down two players. Cornerback JC Jackson will miss the season with a ruptured patellar tendon. Wide receiver Mike Williams will miss some time with a high-ankle sprain.
  • Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said wide receiver DK Metcalf, who left Sunday's game with a knee injury, will not need surgery and will rehab the knee. That's good news considering.
  • TIP: Keep an eye on Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett, who many think could be fired if they do not come out of London with a win.

ooof of the day:

  • The NFL is investigating this incident, where an NFL referee approached Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans and asked for an autograph following Sunday's game. Sources say you're not fucking allowed to do that.

The NFL is reviewing the incident involving side judge Jeff Lamberth and line judge Tripp Sutter, I’m told.

The NFL-NFLRA CBA specifically says game officials “shall not… ask players, coaches or any other team personnel for autographs or memorabilia.” pic.twitter.com/2suFfK3MWL
