• The Chicago Bears cut quarterback Nick Foles after he requested his release. Foles has been in Chicago for two seasons as the backup and will likely continue that role in a new location.
  

The #Bears have agreed to release QB Nick Foles, his agent Justin Schulman confirmed. The team’s new regime decided to allow Foles to find his next home rather than continue to search for a trade partner. “Ryan Poles did the classy thing and Nick appreciates it,” Schulman said.

• The New Orleans Saints are expected to push for free agent safety Tyrann Mathieu. Malcolm Jenkins' departure left a hole in the Saints' roster at the position, and they didn't address the need in this year's draft. Mathieu is probably the best remaining free agent out there.
  

After failing to land a safety during the draft, the Saints now are expected to re-visit their talks with free-agent Pro-Bowl safety Tyrann Mathieu and make an aggressive push to try to add him to their roster, per sources. Mathieu was born and raised in New Orleans.
