NFL Notes: 07/01 - it's officially training camp month

• The Detroit Lions have been miserable for quite a while; that's not exactly a secret. But they got a makeover this offseason, acquiring new general manager Brad Holmes and new head coach Dan Campbell. Now, all we have to do is cross our fingers and hope this works out. Someone who thinks it will? Barry Sanders​. ​

• Jalen Hurts and Mac Jones were teammates at Alabama, and now they're both in the NFL competing for starting QB jobs this offseason. Hurts was asked about how he thinks Jones' journey in college will benefit his time up in New England, presumably waiting again to start. "He was able to watch me and Tua go through that, get him some burn here and there, and ultimately when it was his time, he took off with it. And now he has a great opportunity for his future."

• Carson Wentz has a new home with the Indianapolis Colts, and his main objective (at least in my mind) is to get his confidence back. It's still early, but it seems like he's on the way to doing that. "I really feel like I have a new passion for the game."
