With Tua Tagovailoa remaining in the NFL's concussion protocol, the Miami Dolphins are preparing to start rookie QB Skylar Thompson in the Wild Card round against the Buffalo Bills. Head coach Mike McDaniel remains mum on Tagovailoa's status after suffering a series of concussions this season, most recently on Christmas Day. Prayers up to Thompson, who faces a tough Buffalo defense this weekend. ??

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said they're planning for Skylar Thompson to start at QB on Sunday in Buffalo.

more Qb news:

  • Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was not at practice on Wednesday, putting his status for the Wild Card round in doubt. Backup Tyler Huntley was not throwing at practice, which drove the team to start Anthony Brown against the Cincinnati Bengals last week. So it's a real possibility we could see the same this week. And that's not exactly a good thing.
    • Huntley was listed as a limited participant.

Still no Lamar Jackson (knee) at practice, and Tyler Huntley (right shoulder) was mostly going through the motions in warmups. Didn’t see him attempt a pass.

Rookie Anthony Brown got a lot of reps, as he did last week. pic.twitter.com/NzOVVvOaS6

  • Josh Allen remains on the injury report with ankle and elbow injuries, but participated in full.
  • The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a shaky performance in Week 18 and hoping to turn things around in time for Wild Card Weekend. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones says he's not concerned about Dak Prescott. "It's in Dak's DNA not to turn the ball over. I have all the confidence in the world that he, as a player, has all the right balance of confidence or all the right balance of aggressiveness as it pertains to a turnover." Umm. Ok?
  • Trevor Lawrence was limited on Wednesday, with his lingering toe injury. Lawrence has not missed any games.
  • The Atlanta Falcons started two different quarterbacks in 2022, veteran Marcus Mariota and rookie Desmond Ridder. The team will have a decision to make at the position this upcoming off-season. While it seems likely, they cut Mariota; they will have to decide if they want to roll with Ridder, draft another QB if they don't like what they saw from Ridder, or bring in a veteran QB. Head coach Arthur Smith said they had yet to make any decisions as of right now. "There will be conversations. Nothing to update now."
