The day of big qb news bombs

  • The Denver Broncos may have missed out on the Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes, but they have a big name of their own headed their way. Russell Wilson is heading to Denver, and they're insisting that he was their target all along. That may be true, but it seems a tad suspect to me. Wilson will join the NFC West with Patrick Mahomes, Justin Herbert, and Derek Carr, which is interesting, to say the least. The Seahawks also received QB Drew Lock, DL Shelby Harris, TE Noah Fant, two first-round picks, two second-round picks, and a fifth-round pick. That's quite a haul.

Blockbuster: After weeks of negotiations, in one of the largest trades in NFL history, the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos have agreed to terms for a deal involving Super-Bowl winning QB Russell Wilson, sources tell ESPN.

  • After weeks of drama, Aaron Rodgers revealed on Tuesday via his friend Pat McAfee that he planned to return to the Green Bay Packers for the 2022 NFL season. On top of that, Rodgers was reported to have signed a massive deal: four years, $200 million, with $150 million guaranteed. This makes him the highest-paid player in NFL history. (It was later "reported" by Rodgers himself that the contract numbers weren't accurate, although I'm not sure if that is the truth, or he was just sick of getting overshadowed by Russell Wilson.)

The #Packers and MVP QB Aaron Rodgers have agreed to terms on a 4-year, $200M deal that makes him the highest paid player in NFL history, sources say. He gets a whopping $153M guaranteed and his cap number goes down. A monstrous commitment by GB for years to come. □ □ □

  • So now that Rodgers is back, what's next for Jordan Love? The Packers drafted Love three seasons ago, with the intention of his taking over for Rodgers in a few years. Now that Rodgers' deal is for four years, it doesn't seem like that will happen. With several quarterbacks who are far more in-demand than he is, it's going to be interesting to see where he ends up or if he goes anywhere. And then there's this report of him maybe garnering a second-rounder, which is far off the wall for me.

Just hit up a few NFL scouts about potential asking price for Jordan Love. Most think Packers could get a 2nd round pick for him. Feeling is talent & upside worth that roll of dice.

  • In other quarterback news, one of the most intriguing stories this offseason will be where Mitchell Trubisky could end up. While Chicago didn't seem to be his place, he suffered from "I'm On a Bad Team" syndrome and is now someone worthy of being watched this offseason. One of the teams he has been repeatedly linked to is the New York Giants. This makes sense because their current starter Daniel Jones hasn't been effective and could use some competition during the offseason. Trubisky is perfect because he could also use the competition and an extra chance to prove himself.

Quick note on a QB not named Wilson or Rodgers: Spoke to a team in the thick of it for a competitive backup QB in free agency, and they have a strong belief that Mitchell Trubisky is going to end up with the New York Giants and competing with Daniel Jones for the starting job.
