This year's season of Hard Knocks on HBO has put me to sleep probably every week. It's boring, nothing happens, and five whole minutes was spent on a guy putting his contacts in last night. I'm not kidding. Aside from those five minutes, there was a three-minute drone-shot video at the beginning of the episode that is so worth the watch. The drone takes you around the surrounding areas of the Cowboys' facility, 'The Star,' in Frisco, Texas. It feels like you're playing that Roller Coaster Tycoon game on the setting where you can ride the roller coasters (I know you know what I'm talking about). It flies around the outside of the facility, through the outdoor and indoor practice fields, the film room, the locker room, and the workout rooms.
This looks like it took forever and a day to shoot like there's no way they got this on the first try? I've never flown a drone before, but I can imagine around the tight corners, through the windows, I'd definitely fly it into more than one object. Or lose it completely. Or injure someone.
Turns out, they were given three hours to shoot this sequence, 15 takes, and they got it on the fifteenth try.
