Greg olsen's son gets heart transplant
Starting things off with a feel-good story: Eight-year-old TJ Olsen, son of recently retired tight end Greg Olsen, received a heart transplant over the weekend. He is currently still in recovery but is in good spirits.
TJ was born with a heart defect and has had multiple heart surgeries throughout his life. Olsen's foundation, The HEARTest Yard, focuses on care for children who have conditions like his son. You can find more info or even donate here. jalen ramsey wishes rams went after julio jones
Los Angeles Rams corner Jalen Ramsey has never shied away from speaking his mind. Now he's questioning why his team wasn't more "in" on star wide receiver Julio Jones before he was traded to the Tennessee Titans over the weekend.
Many players (and fans) can probably relate to this sentiment, especially since the payback for Jones looks to be so cheap in terms of getting said "generational guy." In the Rams' case, they already have plenty of financial commitments to big-name players, including Ramsey. Newly acquired quarterback Matthew Stafford is one of them, along with Aaron Donald. Los Angeles did ask about Jones (likely asked the price, if I were to guess) early on, before saying, "no thanks, we're good." ja'wuan james signs with ravens
This one is, for lack of better words, puzzling. After filing a grievance against the Denver Broncos for cutting him after he tore his Achilles working out away from the team's facility, the Baltimore Ravens have signed James to a two-year deal, even though he won't see the field this year.
Fans are raving about this and calling it "genius," but they do that with every move the Ravens make these days. I'm still filing this one under "a head-scratcher." bills have no update on josh allen's contract
Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen is in the group of QBs due their first "big" contract extension following their rookie deals. While it's something Buffalo wants to get done sooner rather than later, GM Brandon Beane gave no updates on Monday when he was asked about a likely extension.
There are no doubts that this will get done, but I can't lie when I say I'm interested to see these Numbers. With a capital N. aaron rodgers won't show up for minicamp, as expected
This was expected (at least for me), but Aaron Rodgers is not expected to attend Green Bay Packers minicamp, after no-showing at OTAs.
Everyone from the team to the coaches to the front office crossed all their fingers and toes that Rodgers will swallow it up and show up, but alas. It's a no-go. I'm not going to break down the entire feud between him and the team (if you're reading this, you likely already know), but basically, Rodgers is making a point here. Green Bay can still fine Rodgers a pretty penny for not attending (over $90,000) minicamp, in addition to the $500,000 workout bonus that was voided when he didn't show up for OTAs. Rodgers is saying he's choosing winning over money and wants to be in on certain decisions and generally just wants to be heard. baltimore ravens

packers get on the board first
The Los Angeles Rams began Saturday's game going three-and-out, but the Green Bay Packers got on the board first. The Rams' defense held them to three points, as linebacker Troy Reeder broke up a touchdown pass from quarterback Aaron Rodgers to receiver Allen Lazard.
Davante Adams has the first td of the day
And it's a pretty one. Rodgers fired off a quick one to receiver Davante Adams, a play perfectly designed to keep Rams star cornerback Jalen Ramsey away from the ball.
This touchdown gives the Packers a 10-3 lead. m-v-p
Rodgers has yet another one for the highlight reel, and an MVP play if I've ever seen one. This pump fake turned rushing touchdown put the Packers up yet another score, for a 16-3 lead.
packers up on rams at halftime
The Packers have dominated the first half so far and are up on Los Angeles 19-10 at the half. The Rams answered with a score of their own late in the second quarter but are gonna have to do more than that going forward. Green Bay gets the ball at the start of the second half.
turns out everyone is named 'aaron' in green bay is good
The Packers got the ball in the second half, and running back Aaron Jones made sure to make the most of it with a 60-yard run.
Jones ran it in for a touchdown a few plays later to give the Packers a 25-10 lead. the Rams have some fight in them
The Rams were able to march down the field, completely obliterating Green Bay's defense in the process. The result? A Cam Akers touchdown, where he lined up in the wildcat formation. Los Angeles tried this two other times so far during this game, and this situation was the perfect time for it to work.
The Rams went for two after this and cut the Packers' lead to 25-18. packers keep their foot on the gas
Rodgers-to-Lazard kept things rolling in the fourth quarter with this 58-yard touchdown, making it look easy once again.
This beauty put the Packers up 32-18 and put the icing on the cake. packers move on, rams go home
The Packers are moving on to the NFC Championship game, defeating Los Angeles 32-18. The next round will feature 37-year old Rodgers, and either Tom Brady or Drew Brees, and I don't think we need to talk about how old they are. It's been drilled into our heads all week.
Urban Meyer and the jags inch closer towards a deal
After about a week or so of constant rumors, the Jacksonville Jaguars and Urban Meyer are taking more steps towards making him the latest head coach of the team. The two parties met again on Wednesday, and it's looking like the rumors could morph into reality any minute now.
The Los Angeles Chargers were also rumored to have contacted Meyer, but they had no formal interview with him for the position. Adam Schefter says above that the Jags seem to be the only choice for Meyer. Meyer would get the chance to transform the Jacksonville franchise and (maybe) utilize the actual talent on the roster (and incoming talent) correctly, something the team has been missing for a long while. kevin stefanski back with browns
Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski missed last week's playoff game after testing positive for COVID-19 but is now back with the team on Thursday.
I'm just as surprised as all of you that the Browns could pull off a win last week without their head coach, who is my pick for Coach of the Year. They're up against the Kansas City Chiefs this week, which is a whole different ballgame as far as playoff games go. The Browns also activated Denzel Ward and Kevin Johnson off of the COVID-19 list on Wednesday. Will they win? Check out my picks for this week on Patreon. Jared goff will start for rams on saturday
After not starting for the past two weeks, quarterback Jared Goff will start for the Los Angeles Rams in Saturday's divisional-round against the Green Bay Packers. Backup quarterback John Wolford is out with a neck injury that he suffered in last weekend's win.
Goff had thumb surgery a few weeks ago and played most of last weekend's game, despite not starting. With a full week of practice and is listed as a full participant, it looks like he'll be more prepared this week. Blake Bortles will serve as the backup. indy scored first
We all expected the Buffalo Bills to be the ones to come out swinging first, but the Indianapolis Colts were the first to get on the scoreboard with a field goal.
Josh Allen answers by doing josh allen things
A highlight for the ages: Bills quarterback Josh Allen looked like he was going to take off, then glanced at tight end Dawson Knox all alone in the end zone and tossed the ball in a play that you'll see circulated for a while.
Bills up at the half, thanks to Josh allen
The Colts have been pretty much dominating the game thus far, but Buffalo is the one with the upper hand after the first half. Allen has been marching down the field, and ending a methodical drive with a rushing touchdown to take the lead.
bills win first playoff game since 1995
The first postseason game was a wild one. The Bills sent Indianapolis home with a 27-24 win. Allen had quite a nice day, throwing over 300 yards and leading the team in rushing yards. Colts QB Philip Rivers goes home, perhaps forever?
jared goff in for rams as john wolford hurts neck
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff is in the game after expecting not to play due to a broken thumb. Starter John Wolford exited the game early after a hard hit. He has since been taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation from a neck injury.
dk metcalf scores 51-yard touchdown
For some reason, the Seattle Seahawks are on the struggle bus, when it really should be the Rams given their situation(s). Wide receiver DK Metcalf came to play, however, scoring a 51-yarder, cutting their lead 13-10.
rams are ahead at halftime
Even with losing their starting quarterback and having to play with an injured Goff, the Rams are up on Seattle at halftime, 20-10. One of the main reasons is rookie running back Cam Akers, who is making plays in his playoff debut.
Akers finished the first half with over 100 yards rushing and a touchdown. seahawks fumble punt, rams score off it
It hasn't exactly been the Seahawks' best day. Returner DJ Reed fumbled, resulting in Rams' ball. And Los Angeles naturally turned it into a touchdown.
rams beat seahawks, badly
The Rams defense came out swinging on Saturday, even with the loss of star Aaron Donald. Los Angeles completely took Seahawks QB Russell Wilson out of the game, pulling out a 30-20 victory, and an advancement to next week. I'll wait until we see the availability of the players though. It looks... bleak.
bucs get on the board first with a field goal
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got on the scoreboard first against the Washington Football Team with a field goal on their opening drive. More importantly, Washington's defense was able to knock Bucs QB Tom Brady down more than once.
bucs leading at half after two brady touchdowns
Brady is playing like Brady in the playoffs (and yelling at people too). He's thrown two touchdowns already, one to Chris Godwin and one to Antonio Brown.
allow me to introduce taylor Heinicke
If you laughed at the fact that Washington was starting QB Taylor Heinicke (we all did, don't lie), here is your introduction:
Los Angeles Rams left tackle Andrew Whitworth was carted off the field during Sunday's win over the Seattle Seahawks with a tough-looking injury. The good news is he didn't tear his ACL. The bad news is he's going on injured reserve anyway. Whitworth's initial diagnosis is a torn MCL and a damaged PCL.
Joe Noteboom assumed responsibility for Whitworth after his exit and will likely be in his spot moving forward. The Rams take on Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers next weekend. |
