Greg olsen's son gets heart transplant
Starting things off with a feel-good story: Eight-year-old TJ Olsen, son of recently retired tight end Greg Olsen, received a heart transplant over the weekend. He is currently still in recovery but is in good spirits.
TJ was born with a heart defect and has had multiple heart surgeries throughout his life. Olsen's foundation, The HEARTest Yard, focuses on care for children who have conditions like his son. You can find more info or even donate here. jalen ramsey wishes rams went after julio jones
Los Angeles Rams corner Jalen Ramsey has never shied away from speaking his mind. Now he's questioning why his team wasn't more "in" on star wide receiver Julio Jones before he was traded to the Tennessee Titans over the weekend.
Many players (and fans) can probably relate to this sentiment, especially since the payback for Jones looks to be so cheap in terms of getting said "generational guy." In the Rams' case, they already have plenty of financial commitments to big-name players, including Ramsey. Newly acquired quarterback Matthew Stafford is one of them, along with Aaron Donald. Los Angeles did ask about Jones (likely asked the price, if I were to guess) early on, before saying, "no thanks, we're good." ja'wuan james signs with ravens
This one is, for lack of better words, puzzling. After filing a grievance against the Denver Broncos for cutting him after he tore his Achilles working out away from the team's facility, the Baltimore Ravens have signed James to a two-year deal, even though he won't see the field this year.
Fans are raving about this and calling it "genius," but they do that with every move the Ravens make these days. I'm still filing this one under "a head-scratcher." bills have no update on josh allen's contract
Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen is in the group of QBs due their first "big" contract extension following their rookie deals. While it's something Buffalo wants to get done sooner rather than later, GM Brandon Beane gave no updates on Monday when he was asked about a likely extension.
There are no doubts that this will get done, but I can't lie when I say I'm interested to see these Numbers. With a capital N. aaron rodgers won't show up for minicamp, as expected
This was expected (at least for me), but Aaron Rodgers is not expected to attend Green Bay Packers minicamp, after no-showing at OTAs.
Everyone from the team to the coaches to the front office crossed all their fingers and toes that Rodgers will swallow it up and show up, but alas. It's a no-go. I'm not going to break down the entire feud between him and the team (if you're reading this, you likely already know), but basically, Rodgers is making a point here. Green Bay can still fine Rodgers a pretty penny for not attending (over $90,000) minicamp, in addition to the $500,000 workout bonus that was voided when he didn't show up for OTAs. Rodgers is saying he's choosing winning over money and wants to be in on certain decisions and generally just wants to be heard.

greg olsen shares update on son's health
Recently retired tight end Greg Olsen shared an update regarding his son's health earlier this week. He shared that his son TJ may need a heart transplant.
Olsen previously played with the Chicago Bears, the Carolina Panthers, and, most recently, the Seattle Seahawks. Olsen's charity, the HEARTest Yard, focuses on helping children with heart defects get proper health care. You can find out more here. bucs cut OTas to six sessions
Because Tom Brady said so. Brady urged players to negotiate with their coaches when it came to reporting for offseason work, and it seemed to work in Tampa (shocking). The team is now reducing their organized team activities down to six sessions.
The Bucs will still hold mandatory minicamp in early June, and it's likely a more relaxed schedule will be given for those exercises as well. Other teams, such as the Pittsburgh Steelers also negociated offseason work. While the details aren't known, players were able to work virtually and in-person, and players, like Cam Heyward, are appreciative.
Bucs head coach Bruce Arians told the media on Tuesday that while most veterans stayed away and OTAs were more for the younger players, he also mentioned "for their protection" that players should work out together at team facilities. Aka, "we don't want a Ja'Wuan James situation.
first look at joe burrow's comeback szn
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow tore his ACL in late November of last season and is determined to be ready for training camp. While he's still not at 100 percent currently, Burrow still took to the field on Tuesday and even did some throwing. We love to see it.
I know it's only May, but this is still a good thing to see if you're a Bengals fan. But I'm still gonna be keeping an eye on that offensive line as well. Arthur smith isn't talking about julio jones right now
There's still major drama surrounding Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones and his (potential) trade, but the Falcons' personnel isn't going to give anything away at the moment. After famously (at this point) saying on Undisputed that he was "out of there" earlier this week, head coach Arthur Smith pulled the "conversations are private" card when speaking of Jones.
A reminder that a trade after June 1 will leave the Falcons with under $8 million in dead cap (before June 1, it would be over $20 million). It's May 26. Tick, tock. aaron jones says he re-signed with packers regardless if rodgers will be there or not
The rumor mill was turning (and continues to turn) when it comes to the Green Bay Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rumors swirled about that Rodgers told teammates and free agents that he likely wouldn't be back in Green Bay, but running back Aaron Jones said that wasn't the case with him, and he likely would have been back regardless.
It's still up in the air whether Rodgers will be there come September, but another Aaron will be back. all teams (sort of) cleared for full stadiums
30 of the 32 NFL teams are cleared to return to full capacity in stadiums this fall. The two lone teams are the Denver Broncos and the Indianapolis Colts, but their plans should be approved in time for the season to begin.
Masking and vaccination rules will be left up to the teams and local regulations, but things look to heading back to "normal" in the NFL world. NFL teams are still encouraging players, staff and fans to get vaccinated at their earliest convenience. will brady be who the nfl listens to when it comes to workout attendance?
As the feud between the NFL and the NFLPA continues on if players should or should not attend offseason workouts versus doing them virtually, someone who is bound to have everyone listen to him when he talks hopped on a conference call on Friday to express his views on the situation. Yep, the Golden Boy Tom Brady himself (the same one who went against COVID protocols last season and organized workouts with his Tampa Bay Bucs teammates when the NFL clearly stated that was a no-no) spoke on behalf of players to keep activities virtual.
As much shit as I'm talking about this, Brady did have a good point.
If it worked fine last season virtually, why can't it work this season? All NFL players work out every offseason anyway, regardless if they're posting Instagram videos or not. They don't need to show up to these things just to say they were there. stefon diggs says he played through a torn oblique in the postseason
You probably wouldn't have guessed it, but Buffalo Bills star wide receiver Stefon Diggs revealed this weekend that he played in the postseason with a torn oblique muscle. Diggs was listed as questionable for the Wild Card game against the Indianapolis Colts, which they won.
Diggs missed some practice time in the following leading up to the final two games but ended up having no official injury designation for those. Diggs still managed over 300 yards and two touchdowns in the postseason, despite the injury. Which sounds like it fucking hurts, to be honest. zach wilson already has his quote game down
The New York Jets held their rookie minicamp this past weekend, where the team (and media) got their first look at their second-overall pick Zach Wilson. Wilson was able to get some work in on the field and his first official media availability with Jets media, where he's already showing he's a Pro's Pro at the Quote Game.
When asked about the starting quarterback job, Wilson said all the right things, including this gem: "That position has to be earned. I have to do what I'm supposed to do. That'll take care of itself." I mean, who told this kid to say that? That being said, that job is pretty much Wilson's whether he earns it (or wants it) or not. hey did you guys know dk metcalf is fast?
Seattle Seahawks receiver D.K. Metcalf took to the track on Sunday, once again proving to us that he is, in fact, fast. Metcalf ran a 10.37-second 100-meter dash at the USATF Golden Games. I'm not gonna pretend like I know what that is. Metcalf ended up finishing last in the race, but that doesn't diminish the WOW factor.
titans shopping isaiah wilson
After a tweet-and-delete from Tennessee Titans first-round pick Isaiah Wilson surfaced, saying he was done playing football with the team, the Titans are trying to trade Wilson, or at least exploring what they could possibly get in return for him.
Due to his troubling 2020 season, it's crazy to think that Tennessee will get much for him in return. But, I guess it's better to get some scraps for a first-rounder, rather than nothing.
I could see a situation where TEN gets a conditional pick if he stays on a roster for the entirety of the season, or x amount of games. KJ Wright doesn't think russell wilson is leaving seattle
The internet exploded yesterday with stories and rumors of QB Russell Wilson wanting to get as far away from the Seattle Seahawks as humanly possible. Among those extreme rumors, there were also mild sprinkles of "he's not leaving," here and there. Linebacker KJ Wright is among the latter, insisting that Wilson isn't leaving.
Deandre hopkins is still talking about his trade
... And I don't blame him one bit. Everyone has been pointing and laughing at the Houston Texans for a while now, but none other than former wide receiver, and the product of the most bone-headed trade of all time, DeAndre Hopkins. I'll let this tweet speak for itself.
julian edelman unsure about his status for 2021
New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman was limited to just six games last season, due to a lingering knee injury that never really seemed to improve. Apparently not much has changed. He wants to play, but his knee may stop him from doing so. It's only February, so that cannot be a good sign.
KJ Wright won't take a discount to stay in seattle
The Seattle Seahawks have a decision to make with linebacker KJ Wright. Pay him, let him "test" free agency, or let him walk altogether? Wright told Jim Rome that he wouldn't hate staying in Seattle but also will not be taking a discount.
My guess is he'll test free agency and end up taking the best offer -- whether the Seahawks are willing to give him, that is up to them. Mike Tomlin says his symptoms of covid-19 are 'minimal'
Reports out of Pittsburgh on Monday stated that Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was one of a group of staffers sent home from the team's facilities last week due to positive tests. Tomlin tested positive for COVID-19 but remains in good spirits, with "minimal symptoms."
— Mike Tomlin (@CoachTomlin) February 22, 2021 isaiah wilson tweets and deletes that he's 'done as a titan'
First-round draft pick Isaiah Wilson may no longer be with the Tennessee Titans if we believe a tweet he sent late Monday night. The Titans definitely have a decision to make on him, but he may have made that decision for them?
Wilson basically didn't play his entire rookie season, but he still had an eventful one. He was arrested for DUI, suspended, put on the COVID-19 list twice, and ended his season on the NFI list. As of now, Wilson doesn't seem like playing football for the Titans is his top priority, but I'll wait for confirmation from the team on this one. shailene woodley confirms engagement to aaron rodgers
File this one under "Non-Football But Still Offseason News." Actress Shailene Woodley confirmed her engagement with Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to Jimmy Fallon. We all knew it, but the most intriguing element about this conversation is that she literally does not care that he plays football.
I know this, but this is a good reminder that athletes are more than just athletes... they also like to host Jeopardy. nick bosa confirms he'll be better next season
San Francisco 49ers edge rusher Nick Bosa tore his ACL in Week Two of last season and was one of several injuries on that team. If there is any good thing to come from a brutal injury so early on in the season, it's that there's ample time to prepare for the next one. Bosa confirms that he'll be back, and he'll be better.
Bosa also tore his ACL in high school. chris godwin talks about free agency
One of this offseason's most notable players eligible for free agency is Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin. Not only did he win a Super Bowl, but he seemed to be in sync with QB Tom Brady almost all season. Godwin discussed free agency here, acknowledging his want to stay with the team he just won with and the need to get a paycheck.
indy scored first
We all expected the Buffalo Bills to be the ones to come out swinging first, but the Indianapolis Colts were the first to get on the scoreboard with a field goal.
Josh Allen answers by doing josh allen things
A highlight for the ages: Bills quarterback Josh Allen looked like he was going to take off, then glanced at tight end Dawson Knox all alone in the end zone and tossed the ball in a play that you'll see circulated for a while.
Bills up at the half, thanks to Josh allen
The Colts have been pretty much dominating the game thus far, but Buffalo is the one with the upper hand after the first half. Allen has been marching down the field, and ending a methodical drive with a rushing touchdown to take the lead.
bills win first playoff game since 1995
The first postseason game was a wild one. The Bills sent Indianapolis home with a 27-24 win. Allen had quite a nice day, throwing over 300 yards and leading the team in rushing yards. Colts QB Philip Rivers goes home, perhaps forever?
jared goff in for rams as john wolford hurts neck
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff is in the game after expecting not to play due to a broken thumb. Starter John Wolford exited the game early after a hard hit. He has since been taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation from a neck injury.
dk metcalf scores 51-yard touchdown
For some reason, the Seattle Seahawks are on the struggle bus, when it really should be the Rams given their situation(s). Wide receiver DK Metcalf came to play, however, scoring a 51-yarder, cutting their lead 13-10.
rams are ahead at halftime
Even with losing their starting quarterback and having to play with an injured Goff, the Rams are up on Seattle at halftime, 20-10. One of the main reasons is rookie running back Cam Akers, who is making plays in his playoff debut.
Akers finished the first half with over 100 yards rushing and a touchdown. seahawks fumble punt, rams score off it
It hasn't exactly been the Seahawks' best day. Returner DJ Reed fumbled, resulting in Rams' ball. And Los Angeles naturally turned it into a touchdown.
rams beat seahawks, badly
The Rams defense came out swinging on Saturday, even with the loss of star Aaron Donald. Los Angeles completely took Seahawks QB Russell Wilson out of the game, pulling out a 30-20 victory, and an advancement to next week. I'll wait until we see the availability of the players though. It looks... bleak.
bucs get on the board first with a field goal
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got on the scoreboard first against the Washington Football Team with a field goal on their opening drive. More importantly, Washington's defense was able to knock Bucs QB Tom Brady down more than once.
bucs leading at half after two brady touchdowns
Brady is playing like Brady in the playoffs (and yelling at people too). He's thrown two touchdowns already, one to Chris Godwin and one to Antonio Brown.
allow me to introduce taylor Heinicke
If you laughed at the fact that Washington was starting QB Taylor Heinicke (we all did, don't lie), here is your introduction:
Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson looked like the latest player to go out with a severe injury last night, appearing to hurt his ankle. Turns out it was a knee sprain, and it wasn't as bad as it looked.
Video of Carson's injury went around the Twitterverse, sparking debates on whether Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Trysten Hill committed a dirty hit. Looked like it to me, tbh. Carson will have an MRI today to determine the severity of the injury, but this is the best-case scenario for Seattle.
Defensive tackle Damon Harrison is visiting the Seattle Seahawks next week, hoping to land a spot after contemplating retirement.
This is a classic case of, "I'm gonna say I'm gonna retire until a contending team says they want to sign me," and I applaud it. Of the teams interested, Seattle is the one I would pick if I wanted to win a Super Bowl before retirement. The Seahawks are also dealing with plenty of injuries on the defensive line, so it's a win-win situation here.
The New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks play each other this Sunday, probably my favorite game this week. When asked about said game, head coach Bill Belichick had nothing but good things to say about his opposing quarterback Russell Wilson, including that he's "underrated."
I'm not sure if it's just me or what, but something like this (something pleasant) coming out of Belichick's mouth always catches me off guard. Of course, Belichick is hardly ever wrong, as well. Wilson has won two out of three matchups with the Patriots -- the one loss being in the Super Bowl.
While reports were swirling not too long ago that the Seattle Seahawks had some interest in free agent Jadeveon Clowney, it seems they have turned their attention to two other free agents -- Clay Matthews and Everson Griffen.
While still no one really knows what the heck is up with Clowney, this makes the most sense for Seattle. I'd personally like to see Matthews there -- he can still continue to play at a high level when healthy. Seattle is clearly looking to bolster its defense -- they recently traded for safety Jamal Adams, and Matthews can do a good job without breaking the bank. Matthews most recently played for the Los Angeles Rams, before becoming a free agent this spring. |
