The San Francisco 49ers have been taking calls from teams asking about QB Trey Lance. While that's as far as the process goes, teams calling about his availability before the draft is significant. Brock Purdy is likely to be the starter whenever he is fully recovered from his elbow injury that he sustained in the NFC Championship Game. The Niners also have QB Sam Darnold on the roster. Two intriguing landing spots for Lance could be the Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans, as he's familiar with Titans GM Ran Carthon and Titans head coach DeMeco Ryans.
A report states the Minnesota Vikings were one of the teams to speak to Lance at this year's scouting combine. There were also rumors swirling around that time about a potential Kirk Cousins trade, so this may be something to keep an eye on.

Bill Belichick hasn't yet committed to QB Mac Jones starting for the New England Patriots in 2023. I think he's just being Belichick, but others seem to think the tension between the two is real.
We all saw Jones scream on the sideline many times, frustrated. As he had a right to when you make your defensive coordinator your offensive coordinator (?). Jones wasn't bad his rookie season and then went through a dramatic second year as a pawn in the Matt Patricia experiment.
I know Belichick is controlling, but he's not dumb. Let Jones have another year with an actual OC before you ship him off elsewhere. Speaking of, a report also surfaced on Tuesday that Belichick shopped Jones to teams including Washington, Tennessee and Vegas. I'm not so sure about that. more QB news:
QB Ryan Tannehill has a $36.6 million cap hit in 2022, sparking rumors that the Tennessee Titans could move on from him. Personally, I still think it happens, but as of right now, head coach Mike Vrabel is adamant that Tannehill will remain the team's quarterback in 2023. "Of course we do [expect Tannehill to be the QB]. We are in March and we are continuing to build a football team, the best football team we can. And Ryan is getting healthy. He has been putting the work in." If you say so, Mike.
The Titans currently hold the No.11 pick in the NFL Draft - the top guys are all likely to be gone by then. Tennessee could be hoping a guy like Will Levis falls that far, but if not? Can I interest you in a slightly used Lamar Jackson? more qb News:
The New York Giants and Daniel Jones' agent have been working hard at hammering out a new deal for the QB, including meeting in Indianapolis. With Tuesday's franchise tag deadline looming, both sides hope they will get something done before then but are willing to tag him if they can't reach an agreement.
A new report came out on Friday that Jones is asking for more then $45 million per year. This report makes it seem more likely that the Giants will stick the tag on Jones before the deadline. An update suggested on Friday that the team and Jones are progressing in contract talks, and still hope to get a deal done by the deadline. An update late Saturday night stated that Jones' agents left Indianapolis with no deal in sight. As the clock ticks, Monday and Tuesday will be key for the Giants and Jones' team to work something out.

The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine begins this week, and many eyes will be on the quarterbacks. With several teams desperate for a competent QB, some may have to wait for Pro Days before seeing what the young guys can do. Alabama QB Bryce Young will save it for his Pro Day, while other top draft candidates, Ohio State's CJ Stroud and Florida's Anthony Richardson, are expected to workout and throw at the Combine. Kentucky QB Will Levis will also throw at the Combine.

Aaron Rodgers had a roller coaster of a season, dealing with injuries and losing his top receiver Davante Adams. Rodgers is deciding his next steps - retirement, moving on to a new team, or staying put with the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers is not making a rash decision soon, saying on Tuesday that he'll take some time before deciding.

The Chicago Bears have the first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, but they already have their QB of the future in Justin Fields. General Manager Ryan Poles said he wouldn't rule out taking a QB with the first pick but would have to be "blown away." This opens up a potential trade for the first pick or taking a much-needed position player. Justin Fields was one of the most flashy quarterbacks of 2022, nearly breaking Lamar Jackson's record for most rushing yards by a quarterback in a single season. But, like Jackson, Poles stated that Fields needs to grow as a passer. The Bears would be stupid to move on from Fields and instead need to build around him. Chicago can benefit from picking top offensive linemen and/or weapons to surround Fields with in this year's draft rather than looking to replace him.

We may have seen the last of Jalen Hurts in the regular season. During this week's Philadelphia Eagles win, Hurts was tackled into the turf, where he suffered a sprained shoulder.
Hurts did have an MRI on Monday, which was negative and showed that the injury wasn't serious, but it may be severe enough to pull him out for the next two weeks. The Eagles want him at his healthiest heading into the playoffs. Backup QB Gardner Minshew will take Hurts' spot until he's ready to go, and it looks like that will happen at least this weekend against the Dallas Cowboys. more Qb news:
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray suffered a non-contact knee injury on the third play during Monday Night Football.
Murray was in the middle of a scramble when his knee appeared to buckle. (I'm not going to post the video, but you can look for it if you want to see it.) Murray was carted off the field, surrounded by teammates, and quickly ruled questionable to return. Murray was later ruled out by the team in the second quarter with a knee injury. Backup QB Colt McCoy replaced him.
Reports began to emerge throughout the game that Murray had torn his ACL. Murray will have an MRI on Tuesday to confirm.
