The New York Jets' offseason program is underway, and new quarterback Aaron Rodgers is in attendance throwing to his new (and old) receivers.
These workouts are voluntary, but the Jets appear to have a good turnout so far. Rodgers, who normally didn't show up to offseason work with the Green Bay Packers, is doing the little things to get in sync with his new team. more QB news

After what feels like years, the Green Bay Packers finally traded future Hall of Fame QB Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets on Monday. The Packers get in return:
The main holdup for this trade appears to be the compensation - the Packers wanted to make sure they got a sizable haul for Rodgers, while the Jets wanted to make sure they didn't put their organization into the hole should Rodgers only choose to play one season in New York. It seems like a win for both sides, as of right now. Rodgers gets a young roster to work with, plus a challenging coaching staff and a change of scenery (and a chance to pull a Tom Brady and win a Super Bowl on another team). More Qb news:
The first of the quarterback extensions has dropped. The Philadelphia Eagles signed QB Jalen Hurts to a five-year, $255 million extension to kick off the week.
The Eagles were adamant that getting an extension done for Hurts was a priority this offseason. It comes at the perfect time, as Hurts is heading into his final year of his rookie contract.
The extension includes $179.304 million in guarantees, a no-trade clause, and up to $15 million in additional incentives. On the heels of a Super Bowl appearance and an MVP-caliber season, it'll be interesting to see how Hurts rebounds in 2023. With a strong core on the roster, the Eagles are set up for success with Hurts. I talk more about Hurts' deal and what it means for the other QBs in line for an extension in Monday's Patreon episode. more QB news:
The Carolina Panthers are wrapping up their private visits with the top 2023 quarterback prospects. Ohio State's CJ Stroud and Kentucky's Will Levis will visit with the team next week.
The Panthers have also met with Florida's Anthony Richardson and Bryce Young from Alabama and have attended all of the top prospects' Pro Days. Carolina will have their choie of quarterbacks with the first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft in two weeks. Young is currently the favorite, but we all know it's #lyingseason. more qb news:
New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has refused to say who the starting quarterback will be come September and rumors have been swirling all offseason that Mac Jones is on the outs with the team. The potential savior? Bailey Zappe. Zappe says he's ready for the challenge come training camp.
Zappe played four games last season and you could argue that he looked better amidst the Matt Patricia Experiment than Jones did. Zappe threw five touchdowns and three interceptions, with a 100.9 passer rating. It's a small sample size, but if the Patriots are serious about opening up a competition this summer, Zappe is ready for it. More qb news:
The New York Jets are supposed to sign Aaron Rodgers eventually, but we're still waiting. As things stand right now, Rodgers has said he intends to be shipped off to New Jersey, but... we're still waiting. As things stand right now, Rodgers worked out with former and future teammate Allen Lazard recently, who was on Rodgers' rumored 'list' of players he wanted the Jets to sign before he came aboard.
Further, Jets GM Joe Douglas said on Friday night, "he's gonna be here," in response to a question regarding Rodgers' status.
So, in other words, we still don't know. more QB news:
While it's one of the things that makes Josh Allen 'Josh Allen,' the Buffalo Bills want to see their star quarterback take less hits in 2023. The trouble so far, has been the balance. While injuries are a part of the game, quarterbacks who have abilities like Allen are far more likely to get injured. Head coach Sean McDermott said it's going to be a group effort to get the best out of Allen and protect him at the same time.
It'll be interesting to see if and how the Bills address this problem - I don't expect Allen to adjust his play at all, but there are ways the team can take some of the heat off of him. Like, adding an explosive running back in this year's draft? Trading for Derrick Henry? We shall see.

The Carolina Panthers sent a ton (literally, a ton) of representatives to CJ Stroud's Pro Day at Ohio State on Tuesday. The Panthers own the No. 1 pick (acquired in a trade from the Chicago Bears) and are going to be pretty busy over the next month deciding whomst to select with that No. 1 pick. Stroud was the one they were getting to know first. Panthers GM Scott Fitterer said of Stroud: "Really knows football. It's not too big for him. He's very comfortable being in that environment and being in command." Fitterer also said the team's brass had a dinner with the likely first-rounder. Who the Panthers are taking with the first pick is anyone's guess, but the two seemed pretty damn chummy.
The Panthers will do their due diligence on other top candidates as well, traveling to Alabama on Thursday for Bryce Young, and Kentucky on Friday for Will Levis. That's a lot of wining and dining. In fact, Panthers' execs had dinner with Young on Wednesday night. more Qb news:
Former MVP (see how we can use that whenever we want? and Carolina Panthers/New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton threw more than 30 passes on Tuesday at Auburn's Pro Day. Newton obviously is looking for a return to the NFL, as he hasn't played since 2021. Newton was also showcasing his brother, Caylin Newton, a wide receiver.

He finally said it. Aaron Rodgers stated on The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday that his intention is to play for the New York Jets. The question is, when? Whenever the Jets and the Green Bay Packers work out the compensation. There were rumors that Green Bay was seeking multiple first-round picks for the almost 40-year-old QB, but those were redacted, saying both sides were still negociating. Then, there was talk of a supposed "wish list" - Rodgers had a list of guys (allegedly) that he wanted the Jets to look into and potentially sign. Not true, he said. (To a point - former Packers WR Allen Lazard signed with the Jets on Tuesday.) Some other fun nuggets from his appearance - Rodgers went into his infamous "darkness retreat" 90% sure he would retire. He explained he came out of his meditation fest thinking that the Packers no longer were interested in his services, and decided the chip on his shoulder was way too big and he wanted to continue playing, but elsewhere. Rodgers also mentioned that one of the main reasons he picked the Jets (other than that it appears no one else is that interested) was new offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, whom he previously worked with in GB. That one spot elsewhere appears to be New York, or New Jersey. Whichever. And it's a matter of when, not if. more QB news:
