He finally said it. Aaron Rodgers stated on The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday that his intention is to play for the New York Jets. The question is, when? Whenever the Jets and the Green Bay Packers work out the compensation. There were rumors that Green Bay was seeking multiple first-round picks for the almost 40-year-old QB, but those were redacted, saying both sides were still negociating. Then, there was talk of a supposed "wish list" - Rodgers had a list of guys (allegedly) that he wanted the Jets to look into and potentially sign. Not true, he said. (To a point - former Packers WR Allen Lazard signed with the Jets on Tuesday.) Some other fun nuggets from his appearance - Rodgers went into his infamous "darkness retreat" 90% sure he would retire. He explained he came out of his meditation fest thinking that the Packers no longer were interested in his services, and decided the chip on his shoulder was way too big and he wanted to continue playing, but elsewhere. Rodgers also mentioned that one of the main reasons he picked the Jets (other than that it appears no one else is that interested) was new offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, whom he previously worked with in GB. That one spot elsewhere appears to be New York, or New Jersey. Whichever. And it's a matter of when, not if. more QB news:

If Aaron Rodgers is going to play for the New York Jets, he wants to do it his own way, and with some of his friends. Rodgers has given the Jets a 'Wish List' of players he wants the team to target and/or sign, because of course he has. The list includes former teammates Allen Lazard, Marcedes Lewis, best friend Randall Cobb, and Odell Beckham Jr.
One of them is already checked off the list - Lazard signed a four-year, $44 million contract with New York on Tuesday. The rest? Unsure, although the Jets did attend an open workout that OBJ held in Arizona late last week.
The Jets also have Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson, Elijah Moore, Corey Davis, and Denzel Mims in their wide receiver room. Not bad. So why does Rodgers want all these older guys in the room, unless he's on a complete power trip? He's already holding two teams hostage during the peak of free agency - the Jets and the team that is hoping to trade him, the Green Bay Packers. Neither can do much until there's a resolution. Hopefully one is coming soon, as Rodgers is scheduled to appear on his friend, Pat McAfee's show on Wednesday at 1pm. more QB news:

On Tuesday, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance told reporters he'd be cleared soon after undergoing two surgeries on his broken ankle. Lance is expected to be a full-go by OTAs. This is good news for the Niners, who are expected to be rid of Jimmy Garoppolo soon and have Brock Purdy out for at least six months.
Speaking of 49ers QBs, rookie Brock Purdy is currently awaiting second opinions on his injured UCL - a repair vs. reconstruction surgery will determine the time he will be able to return to football activities. Purdy told reporters on Tuesday that he will make a final decision soon.

With Tua Tagovailoa remaining in the NFL's concussion protocol, the Miami Dolphins are preparing to start rookie QB Skylar Thompson in the Wild Card round against the Buffalo Bills. Head coach Mike McDaniel remains mum on Tagovailoa's status after suffering a series of concussions this season, most recently on Christmas Day. Prayers up to Thompson, who faces a tough Buffalo defense this weekend. ??

Merry Christmas to me! The Indianapolis Colts are benching quarterback Matt Ryan - yes, again - for Nick Foles. Foles will be their third quarterback to start this season. Definitely not what they had planned.
The first time Ryan was benched, rookie Sam Ehlinger took over, and head coach Frank Reich was later fired. Then, the Colts hired Jeff Saturday for some reason, went back to Ryan, and blew the biggest lead in NFL history. Foles, their last hope, is a former Super Bowl MVP and has only played two snaps this season - the final snaps of a 24-0 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Foles said on Wednesday that he had no frustration towards the Colts for not turning to him earlier in the season. The Colts take on Justin Herbert, an actual good QB, and the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football. more Qb news:
This weekend, USC quarterback Caleb Wiliams won college football's biggest prize, the Heisman Trophy. While he can't enter the NFL Draft until 2024, this is great to have on your resume. And he won it in a landslide.

QB INJURY UPDATES:
Aaron Rodgers has already been dealing with a thumb injury, and now he has a ribs/oblique injury he suffered during Sunday night's game. Rodgers will have an MRI and a CT scan to rule out any significant injuries, such as broken ribs or a punctured lung.
Head coach Matt LaFleur said on Monday that Rodgers would start if he's healthy, but didn't give much of an update on his status. more QB news:
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray has been dealing with a hamstring injury for a couple of weeks, missing two games so far. Murray reportedly originally injured his hamstring at the end of October. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said on Tuesday that while Murray has made some progress, he's not quite ready to return to the field.
As a disappointing season for Arizona continues, backup QB Colt McCoy will get starting reps while Murray is out.
The Cardinals have the Los Angeles Chargers up next, followed by a Week 13 bye. It's very possible they wait until after the bye week to put Murray back in the line-up. more QB news:
The Tennessee Titans dominated the Green Bay Packers from start to finish on Thursday Night Football. The star of the show was running back Derrick Henry. Henry topped 1,000 rushing yards for the season (seven-plus weeks to go). Henry also ran for a touchdown and played quarterback for the night, tossing this pass to tight end Austin Hooper for six.
