The New York Giants and Daniel Jones' agent have been working hard at hammering out a new deal for the QB, including meeting in Indianapolis. With Tuesday's franchise tag deadline looming, both sides hope they will get something done before then but are willing to tag him if they can't reach an agreement.
A new report came out on Friday that Jones is asking for more then $45 million per year. This report makes it seem more likely that the Giants will stick the tag on Jones before the deadline. An update suggested on Friday that the team and Jones are progressing in contract talks, and still hope to get a deal done by the deadline. An update late Saturday night stated that Jones' agents left Indianapolis with no deal in sight. As the clock ticks, Monday and Tuesday will be key for the Giants and Jones' team to work something out.

Derek Carr was released by the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this week and has already visited the New Orleans Saints. This weekend, he saw the New York Jets. The Jets are an ideal spot for a free-agent quarterback; with a great coaching staff and a slew of young weapons on offense, it should be an appealing job.
Carr was seen dining with head coach Robert Saleh and Nathaniel Hackett at a New Jersey restaurant over the weekend.
more qb news:
As expected, the Las Vegas Raiders informed Derek Carr of his release. As a result, Carr will get a head start in free agency and is expected to have a heavy market. Carr previously met with the New Orleans Saints and should visit with more teams before deciding. The Carolina Panthers, New York Jets, and Tennessee Titans are also expected to be interested in Carr. The move also frees up $29 million in cap space, which the Raiders may need to get a new quarterback.

Chad Henne has been Patrick Mahomes' backup quarterback for five seasons, and now he's going out on top, retiring after the Kansas City Chiefs' latest Super Bowl win. One of his highlights? Coming in for Mahomes in the divisional round against the Jacksonville Jaguars and keeping the offense running while Mahomes got treatment on his injured ankle. Henne led a 98-yard drive ending in a touchdown. more Qb news:
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been dealing with a shoulder injury for over a month, but it didn't look like it hindered him much in the NFC Championship Game. Hurts said Thursday that he's still working through it but expects to play.
more Qb news:
On the one-year anniversary of his retiring for the first time, Tom Brady has retired again. And this time, it seems like it's for real (maybe). Brady wanted to announce his decision via video rather than the lengthy, drawn-out statement he put out last February. He said it's for good this time, but I'll believe that when I see it.
There were plenty of rumors about Brady playing elsewhere in 2023 - Las Vegas and San Francisco being the two favorites - and then a return to Tampa Bay was also floated as a possibility. It came down to a return to the Buccaneers and retirement. The Bucs found out about his decision around the same time we did.
more qb news:
On Tuesday, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance told reporters he'd be cleared soon after undergoing two surgeries on his broken ankle. Lance is expected to be a full-go by OTAs. This is good news for the Niners, who are expected to be rid of Jimmy Garoppolo soon and have Brock Purdy out for at least six months.
Speaking of 49ers QBs, rookie Brock Purdy is currently awaiting second opinions on his injured UCL - a repair vs. reconstruction surgery will determine the time he will be able to return to football activities. Purdy told reporters on Tuesday that he will make a final decision soon.
more QB news:
While he still has to make a firm decision on his future in the NFL, a trade is still on the table for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. A trade would free up a big chunk of change for the team ($60 million, to be exact), but he is not expected to be traded to an NFC team. A couple of intriguing teams are the Las Vegas Raiders and the New York Jets, both of whom are expected to move on from their current starters.
more qb news:
Lamar Jackson finally broke his silence to address his knee issue that's been plaguing him all season. Unwritten in this tweet is that Jackson doesn't sound like he'll be back anytime should, should the Baltimore Ravens advance to the next round. Jackson was not present at Ravens practice on Thursday. Tyler Huntley appears to be in line to be the starter for Baltimore this weekend; he threw during Thursday's session, something he didn't do last week.
